Is MNSSHP worth the money?

I know lots of you absolutely love it! But I have a close friend who went last year & didn't feel it was worth the money. When we go in Sept. my boys will be just about to turn 3 and 6. I'm just not sure if what you get that night is so much better than a regular night at MK. Please share your thoughts!!

When did your friend go? Did they go on a weekend (Fri/Sat/Sun)? Those are notoriously bad nights to pick because your not only getting the vacationers going to it, but the locals as well. Also, the closer you get to Halloween, the more crowded it will get. Halloween itself usually sells out-I'd definitely steer clear of that.

I guess it depends on your expectations and reasons for going to MNSSHP on whether you think it is worth it. We go every year. We love the parade and seeing the headless horseman. Not really into the trick or treating, but we do it anyway, cause its fun. The fireworks show during the party is awesome and Main street does look very cool with the ghosts that are projected onto the buildings. We like the short or non-existant lines for the rides-this is probably our biggest reason for going.

We usually will pick a Tuesday to go and even though there are lots of folks, the waits for attractions are faily short to none. We all dress in costume-we love seeing others taking the time to dress up too. We have gone on the weekend too and I definitely would not want to go on one again-it is much more people, less enjoyable (but not IMO unenjoyable)...but if that were my only option (to go on a weekend), I'd still go.

Did your friend ever tell you what they specifically didn't like about the party that they felt it wasn't worth it? It's a shame...maybe its just not everyones cup of tea, but most I know love it. pirate:

Thanks "KeepMovingForward" -- you gave lots of great reasons to go. I will ask her & see which night they went. A big bonus for me would be the short lines!! I'll check the MNSSHP schedule & see if they are having it on a week night while we will be there. We are not really on a budget so it's not necessarily the money holding me back. I'm sure we will do it & enjoy it. And I'm sure my boys will just love another excuse to wear costumes-- in September!!!

Most rides (espscially Fantasyland) are open and there are NO lines when you fgo during the week. We also like seeing the characters in their costumes. The parade is fabulous (the "Boo to You" song is STILL stuck in my head 7 months later) and it's lots of fun seeing other families in their costumes. I think your kids would love it. We pretty much skipped the trick or treat lines in favor of doing rides extra times. They give out standard drug store Halloween candy - mostly air heads last year from what I remember (YUCK). Buy a bag at the food store and bring it with you - you can still get a Halloween candy fix and save yourself time in lines.

We had so much fun we went twice last year (during our 7 day trip) - but I agree that weekdays are better than weekends. The year before we went ON HALLOWEEN - still fun, but much more crowded.
