Is MM even worth it?

I seem to remember last time we did MM, it was more crowded than a regular morning! It was offseason, on a T or Th, and at the time I remember thinking it wasn't worth getting up early and rushing out. Everyone rushed for Peter Pan - we were there at the opening and still waited 20 minutes.

This visit MM would start at 7am, and getting the kids up and out by 6:30 would be a major ordeal. I'm not sure it's really worth it. Does anyone else think that MM is not that helpful?

Heavens yes ~ if FL is important to you. Earlier this month we had 2 MM days and we also treated our Monday morning like a MM *noone had an advantage over us* our 1st two rides all 3 days were Peter Pan and Dumbo ~ we got so much accomplished in that 1st hour + the following 2 hours *mornings really are a great time in the parks.

ETA ~ our MM days started at 7am ~ yes it was early, but we took a mid day break and napped *I did too* each day.

Oooohhhhh YES...... if you have it, don't waste it - especially if you are going during a busy time. I'm actually buying 3 day hoppers so that we have it, it was that valuable to us on or last trip.

Because the parks probably didn't open until 10am, MM would have only started at 9am and I know for me its much easier to be at a 9am MM than a 7am MM. If you can, use your MM day when the park is open longer and you can get in earlier.

We found it invaluable. We were about 10 back in line when the gates opened (and we didn't leave our room at GCH until 30 minutes before park opening). We were able to do almost everything in FL before the park opened at 8. Made the rest of the day so much easier!

did MM last Saturday. We were the first riders for Dumbo and had 0 wait for everything but Peter Pan. We actually walked over to Tomorrowland to see about Buzz, rode Star Tours and back to FL and hopped on PP with just maybe a 10 min wait? I had never seen a line that short, that was about 30 min into our MM.

It was PERFECT. The lines in FL were unbearable almost our whole trip except during our MM.

We do it everyday that it is available and it is at 0700 for us. We get get all of Fantasyland done and we will not go back unless one of the kids needs to repeat a ride. By doing this we can get at least 30 rides done in a day. After FL we head to AdventureLand to grab FP's and ride those rides.

MM at DL are extremely valuable in the summer! Especially when they are at 7am during the hot summer. For one, it's cooler outside. For two, nobody is there! It's like having your own private party at DL. And yes, you can get so much riding done in the early morning. Sunday morning at DL is my favorite time.

Now, in the off season when a MM may not be until 9am, of course more people are going to be there because it's easier to get up. You've sort of lost that early morning advantage. So, it might not be worth it. When we go to WDW we do not use the morning extra magic hours because there are so many with that advantage and it's off season and it just doesn't buy us much.

MM are like gold to us. We were there last week for a 7am MM and we did all of FL with barely any waits. We hopped on Peter Pan first and by the time we got off and went to the bathroom, you should have seen the line.

For us, it is well worth it! We loved riding the Tea Cups 3 times in a row without waiting in line. (Would have gone for a 4th time, but daughter was too dizzy!:rotfl2:). The MB were also open, so, it was nice to get on that without a line. We enjoy the MM because everyone else that is there aren't grouchy, are nice, and our kids meet other kids having a good time first thing in the morning.
Plus, riding all these rides first thing each MM, that leaves the rest of the day to ride other rides without the kids begging to ride Dumbo, for example, because they know they will be able to ride it first thing in the morning. Plus, when it gets in mid afternoon, we head back to the room for a swim and nap, so we are ready to help close the park! :thumbsup2 (Or until the kids say they are too tired).

MM is absolutely worth it. But I think I know the problem.

"This visit MM would start at 7am, and getting the kids up and out by 6:30"....

Getting them out at 6:30 has you walking up to the gates right at 7. By that time there will be a line (though less of a line at 7 than if MM started at 8 or 9), so you'll be behind people.

IMO, the key to MM is to be there early enough that you're at the FRONT of a line. Have nothing standing in your way...no stroller rental pickups, don't get hung up because Minnie Mouse is greeting people before you get onto Main Street, just hustle up to Fantasyland and be one of the FIRST in line for Peter Pan. First for PP makes you first for Toad if you ride it, one of the first for Alice, Teacups, and even Dumbo...because the truth is, people arrive after the gates are open, they rent strollers, they get lured in by Minnie or whatever character is there, they take pictures, they get muffins.... If you're among the first, you can do a ridiculous amount of stuff in less than an hour, and THEN you can run back for muffins, lattes, stroller rentals, etc.

If you had a line of 20 minutes for PP during MM, it means you were "late" to lineup.

I must say - prior to a couple of years ago my friends and I never paid much attention to MM, even though we'd had multiple opportunities to use MM seeing that we always stay onsite at one of the DLR hotels. It was just too difficult for me to get my friend up and going in the morning to be able to make a 7:00 a.m. MM time so I didn't push it.

I finally decided to incorporate the MM into our plan in December 2008 - peak season, the weekend right before Christmas - and I just told my friend we would be using it. We went in for MM, headed straight back to FL - and promptly proceeded to get on It's a Small World Holiday immediately (we were the only ones on our boat, and there was only one couple in the boat ahead of us!). Then, in rapid succession, we did Peter Pan, Snow White, Mr. Toad, Pinocchio, Alice, the Teacups, Sleeping Beauty Castle and something else I am forgetting. We could have done Dumbo as well, but my friend wasn't interested. And we still had time to spare in the hour! We would/could have done the Storybook Land boats too but they were not running yet.

So, basically, if we had gone into FL later in the morning, there is no way we would have gotten on all those rides in under an hour. In fact, we normally skip most of the FL rides specifically because the lines are daunting. The MM is a way for us to enjoy FL and remind ourselves why we like those rides we grew up with - without a million people in front of us. So it was well worth it - not just for the rides, but for the ability to walk with ease through FL without clawing our way through crowds. We actually had space to move around without people everywhere. I could actually see the wonderful details of FL for once (they are easy to miss when there are people everywhere)!

We had so much success with our MM that my friend looked at me and said, "Why haven't we been using the Magic Morning all along? This is great!!":rotfl2::rotfl2: So I think I sold her on it, and I am now a big proponent of MMs too!!:thumbsup2

I absolutely agree with this. We make sure we are at the front of the line and head straight to PP. Strollers, character meet and greets, etc. can wait until later. :thumbsup2

Yep, we love the MM when it is at 7:00. We rarely get to enjoy it since we are APers and usually only come for the day. But anytime we stay onsite, we always take advantage of it.

Last summer we stayed two nights at the GC for my DS's birthday. Got up early for MM (arrived at gate at 6:30 for 7:00 MM) and were the first in line at the gates. Our family was picked to open the park that day. It made for an even more special birthday for our DS!!!!

Question about logistics - can/should we walk right through the castle at MM rope drop?

we used our MM in June and it was on a Wednesday because there was a grad night that night so there wasn't an MM on Thursday. The park was empty it was amazing. We rode everything in FL with little wait and got to ride Nemo as a walk on right at 8 am when the park was opening to the rest of the guests. We still say that was our best day of the trip because we got so much done in that first hour.

Wow, all these great MM stories are making me jealous! ;) I used my MM in April by myself (was on a trip with just my husband and he wanted to sleep in) and it was a bust. PP, Alice, Toad and Pinocchio and my hour was gone. I headed to Matterhorn after PP but the line was so crazy long already. My non-MM morning was SO much less crowded. I hopped on the shuttle at the Hyatt at 8:30 with a 9:00 DL opening. We made 2 other stops before being dropped off at a furthermost shuttle stop, I ended up in a slow-moving security line :headache:, I dumped our jackets/ponchos in a locker, actually made it for rope drop (went through the shops on the right), and headed straight for the Matterhorn and was the 8th person in line. :cool1: Anyway, after that awfully crowded MM I wondered why MMs were all the rage.

Yes you can. We always go straight through the castle right to Peter Pan.:thumbsup2 If you were starting with Nemo or Matterhorn or something in that direction you would probably go to the right of the castle.

I think Magic Morning is worth it, however next time we aren't going to do Peter Pan first. Last time we were there we spent half of Magic Morning in line for that, everything else had virtually no wait. So next time we go I think we'll save Peter Pan for during a parade or right before closing. I'd rather get in line right before closing and wait 20/30 minutes than waste that time first thing in the morning.
