For the experienced WDW marathoners in our midst, my DW is interested in heading directly to the Magic Kingdom to see us go through for the 1/2M. I've heard that Main St. is packed with spectators, but we would be going through before 9am, so... is the park open for spectators to cheer on the runners before opening time?

What are other good places for spectators to catch the action?

Yes, part of Main Street is open for spectators. It is hard to find a spot where you can see people though. Another good spot I have used in the past is in front of the Contemporary. There usually aren't many people and it has easy access to the monorail afterwards.

It's open :) and the crowds are wonderful!!!!

We're sending Mom there then she is too rush back to the monorail with the rest of the other racers family/friends and head to Epcot for the finish or she might go into Epcot to see us enter there, or after we pass Mile 12 we went thru the resort bus area and into Epcot. Mom has to decide if she wants to see us actually cross the finish line or if she will just meet us after the finish.

I can't remember the page # now but I listed it the other day as to what times the family/friends can expect to see the racers go thru the different areas. :)

Don't delay too much getting there. It is crowded.

I loved when some were near contemporary just b4 getting into MK. It was great to hear support along the way and it should be good to get on monorail from there.

I think main street on MK is fantastic...especially for the runners.

As for the spectators, it is difficult to get a good spot there....I agree, either Contemporary or TTC would be great spots, easy to get there via the monorail. I don't have the 1/2 route in front of me---but, I think it goes past GF and that is another really good spot.

I do think that the Monorail is the safest way for spectators to get around once the races start this coming week end!

Good point. It WAS really nice having some by the Contemporary and the GF. I'll mention those to Mom in case she'd rather do that.

You actually finish that park before it opens--the sweep points pretty much assure that of happening.

You go in--and just before opening (and theoretically once all athletes have passed through), spectators are escorted out of the park.

You may need the pick me up at Poly or GF...then she can jog over to TTC and try to meet you at the finish line.
