Is Mission Space: Orange the exact same intensity as it was when it first came out?

Seriously? Why?

Dang!! How did you know I'm secretly a Disney executive trolling this forum? Who told you?

:duck:

Sorry. I couldn't resist.
I have no idea why they changed it. Only TPTB of Disney could say. I guess they thought a MS refresh would tide people over until they can give Future World an update?

The main thing I'm worried about, to be honest, is that I don't weigh the same as did 13 years ago... I'm not terribly overweight, significantly under 200, but I've gone on a spinning ride where the floor drops out about 2 years ago and boy, it really felt super uncomfortable, like I couldn't breathe. The spinning/dizzy/nauseous factor has never bothered me, but when I went on this last spinning ride, it was the pressure from the g-forces that bothered me (I've been on a ton of similar rides in the past without a problem). For some reason I just felt like my chest was caving in on me and I couldn't catch my breath. I had to breathe very shallowly and was basically counting down the seconds until it was over. Later I googled it and found an article mentioning that the heavier you are, the more intense the g-forces feel. :confused3 Now I'm nervous to ride MS: orange even though I know I loved the original.

Haven't tried orange since not long after it first opened. I really hope they scaled it back. Green is ruined. Ruined, I say! It was my daughter's favorite, as she's not a thrill seeker, but loves space and going to Mars was pretty cool. She was really bummed out by the new film. The trip around the globe is just Soarin' but up too high to see the same things. Oh and then it's like being part of a plane crash at the end, which about had me in a true panic attack. (real phobia of flying in airplanes...sometimes the queue for Soarin' smells too much like an airport...though I do like the ride itself.) I have no phobia of rockets. Going to Mars was fun on the green side. Orange would've been fun, but it did make me feel really 'off' the rest of the day.

This is exactly why I would never ride the orange side. The same carnival ride you mention made me feel like I was having a heart attack so now I'm afraid of G forces. Now that DH has had a heart attack, he doesn't ride orange either.

Probably won't bother with green again, either, unless the put it back like it was. It's so short now that I couldn't believe it was already over before anything even happened.

(OTOH, some folks say that, IN GENERAL, as they age, they can't handle ride experiences as well as they used to. So, consider that.)

This...I can barely handle Star Tours with the rocking and visual and got off the ride stumbling. Made DH quite nervous.

Hadn't done it before (I was too nervous), so I did Green first on my recent trip. It was so underwhelming that it made me more confident about doing Orange afterwards. I can't compare it to anything else, but it was definitely a much more intense experience with the quite significant G-force imparted. I'm glad I did it, but the difference was very noticeable.

This orange ride used to make me really sick - I am very motion sick prone - and now I just pop a bonine about an hour before and I am perfectly fine. I really love it, with or without Gary. So cool - it really is what I would imagine it would be like to go into space!

Well, with Orange you aren't supposed to feel it AS spinning. It's supposed to feel, to your body, like G-forces, not spinning. But in *some* people who follow every direction and do it all right, they still do feel the spin. So you never know.
Motion Sickness is an inner ear problem having to do with the fluid and it's location in its area that controls balance etc. Usually, if one doesn't have an inner ear problem, then the motion sickness is more of a talk yourself into it thing then reality. You cannot fool the inner ear though, see it or not you will experience it. If you felt nothing then you have nothing to worry about.

I only ever did the "orange," it was the only option at the time and I hated it. The air was blowing into my eyes, drying my contacts out something horrible so I had to keep my hand over my head trying to block the air the whole time. Also, I had such a horrible tightness in my chest, it was very painful. My question is, what does the "green," side do? I assumed it would be the same as the orange except no spinning at all, but maybe I am wrong?

My understanding of the old Mission: Space Green was that it was the same video and simulator movements as the original, but without the spinning (which is what causes the pressure in your chest). I can't specifically remember any blowing into my eyes, so I'm not sure about that. The new Green mission, though, is a different and shorter experience, still involving no spinning, but involving a largely more sedate flight around Earth rather than a trip to Mars. I'd imagine it would be okay for anyone who's fine with motion simulators and (very) enclosed spaces, but it's short and mostly not very exciting.

All flight positions include a constant and continuous "fan/AC" blowing onto the area
of where the guests' face is situated.

It helps to combat the "closeness" aspect of the view screen, and contribute to the guests'
feeling of being able to breathe more freely.

It is not designed to blow in to guests' eyes.
But, some guests can have a "heightened awareness" of their surroundings when they may otherwise be in a state of discomfort.

And, as always, there could be a technical issue that was disrupting the normal operation.
