Worth the money? I will be taking my twin 9 year olds there December 15th - 19th. I'm trying to keep costs down but don't want to miss out on a good thing. Has anyone been to the party and was it worth it?

Thanks

Everyone has a different opinion on this one I have found. However we LOVE the Christmas party. We go to two while we are there. We try to do the rides one party while everyone else is enjoying the "party" stuff....and then we spend one trying to do all the stuff the is special to the party. We went with our 13 month old DD last December and since she was free it was worth it to do two since we had to take it slower and didn't get as much in. And we are going this December to 2 with her (she'll be 2 and still free) and are considering a third one night and having nanny & Poppa keep her so we can do one and stay the whole time. So if that works out we will be going to 3 parties....and keeping our trip within a reasonable budget is very important to us...we stay All-Stars, etc so it's not like we just have a ton of money. We just really like the Christmas Party. So in my opinion yes, it is definitely worth it.

We did MVMCP for the first time this past Dec.
It was so cold, but other than that it was fun.
The parade was great. The characters were great. The cookie and hot cocoa was good. We didn't ride many rides because DS was too darn cold, but it was fun.
We'd do it again.

You will love the snowflakes on Main Street and the shows and short lines. If the children can stay up late it is fabulous and well worth the money. We'll be there the 18th.

Go! Go! Go!

It is one of the main reasons why I am thinking of a trip arounf dec 2006.

We were there last dec, it was on the chilly side but so magical, merry, and did I say MAGICAL???

After going to WDW in the July heat I never dreamed I'd see snow falling on Mainstreet one day. It was just me and DH but nest time we will bring our 2 DDs.

Well worth the money in my opinion. The hot chocolate, cookies and carols all made for a great atmosphere.

I asked this question of my 19 year old DD as we have been 3 times over the years and I wasn't really sure after the last one although we had enjoyed the first 2 very much. She said it was absolutely worth it!

We plan on going the 18th as well. It will be the girls 9th birthday. I'm sure they can make it through the night. Thanks for helping everyone. My wife needs to ask her professors about "finals" then I'm booking this party and trip. I can't wait to go back..... :cool1:

So how cold is it in Dec in wdw?
thanks Diane

I'm not sure if I agree that it is worth it. I went with a friend last year on Thursday, December 9th. Honestly, I thought the park was too busy. We waited in line for every ride, 30 minutes for Stitch, 40 minutes for Peter Pan, 30 minutes for LightBuzzYear, etc. Other people were also complaining. One couple had been there also on Tuesday and apparently Tuesday was even worse. I never could find the hot chocolate, never saw a caroler, never saw any snow, blah, blah, blah. BUT, I'm not much of a "show" person. I rather hit the rides, so I don't know how the entertainment stacked up. That being said, I will probably take my DS(7) to it next year. Why? The parade and fireworks at the end were so outstanding it made up for the rest. :wizard: I saw Tinkerbell up close and they added an ending on the fireworks that was incredible. I almost cried . . . and I'm NOT an emotional person.

I would definitely pre-order tickets. These parties can and do sell out, especially the Friday night ones and as it gets closer to the middle of December. The only danger about pre-ordering is if it is raining, you can't get your money back. Also, most years, and I can speak from experience from last year, they let you into the park as early as 4:00 p.m. and you can enjoy the park before it closes down and then opens back up. That was actually kind of fun.

Are they all very crowded, or can you get tickets when you arrive?

Definitely get your tickets ahead of time. If the party dates you want sell out (which a lot do...) you'll be disappointed.....

Tickets are cheaper when purchased in advance. Yes, it's worth it. We loved it when we went in 2003. The best night was the Sunday that we went, because not only was it magical, but the place was not too crowded and we had a blast. The Friday that we went was a sold out night and it was also the last night of the parties. OMG, never again. Too crowded for my taste, but it was still neat to take in the snow on Main Street and some of the shows.

We plan on going twice again this year, weather permitting. We have purchased our tickets for the Sunday that we arrive. We have family joining us that night from FL, so while we hope to enjoy the night, it will be nice to have a night for us to share at the party alone. We plan, hopefully, to do this second night on Tuesday.

You can't beat using MVMCP as a first night entertainment option. You can get in at 4pm with your MVMCP ticket, even though the party doesn't start until 7pm and you get to stay and play until Midnight. By all means, GO!!!

I'm taking my 73 y/o mom for her first ever trip to WDW and want it to be extra special, so bought tickets for Tuesday Dec 13th (Annual Pass night). Are those nights particulary crowded?

I also have the CP pkg for our arrival night Friday Dec 9th with Jim Cavaziel as the narrator. Does anyone know if that will be particularly crowded. I'm going to have to rent an ECV for my mom and am a little concerned about it and the crowds.

I also saw Jim Cavaziel last year on the Wednesday night he was there, like December 8th(?) We did the CP dinner package and it was necessary for us to line up about 30-45 minutes ahead of time. The line was very long just for the reserved dinner package individuals. It was well worth it, though. Very moving and powerful. I probably won't do this with my DS next year. He'll only be 7 and I am concerned he might be bored. :3dglasses It's probably more like an 11 year old and up thing. :earboy2:

What days is the party on in December? I will be there 12/15 - 12/19.

Thanks again....

www.allearsnet.com has great information regarding the festivities, with dates and prices. To answer your question, the party will be going on 12/15, 12/16 and 12/18 during your stay. I would stay away from the 16th, which is a Friday night. But, if you decide to go on the 16th, definitely get your tickets as soon as possible. Friday night tends to sell out quickly. Have fun and enjoy. :sunny:
