I tried to get Mickey's BBQ the week that we are there, 9/20-27 and they had absolutely nothing available. I thought it would be good to do on a "no park day." Should I keep trying, or does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks! :goodvibes

We did the BBQ once and it was fine, but we never went back despite having two other kids added to our family group since then. The food was not memorable. How about Hoop Dee Doo or Spirit of Aloha? or skip the dinner show and go to Whispering Canyon for dinner, which can be a lot of fun (and IMO, going to WL is just a neat experience).

My daughter loved it at 2. She had such a good time dancing with the characters as opposed to just standing there while we had our picture made with them. The food was decent, though not great. You're really there for the characters. I managed to snag tickets for our July trip, but haven't been able to get anything for our Sept. 13-20 trip. However, the July seats just opened up last week. When I was speaking to the CM a few weeks ago, calling again to try to get it, she said that they often have large parties cancel at the last minute, so to definitely check back a couple of days before.

It was not our favorite.

The BBQ was hot, the fans were noisy, the dancing with the characters was like a kiddie mosh pit.

The best part was the dessert freezer-my kids loved that!

The CMs were very accomodating-got my son something special he was looking for (can't remember what).

We're glad we did it once, but won't do it again.

wE ENJOYED IT WITH OUT ALMOST 3 YEAR OLD AND WILL GO BACK AGAIN. THE CHARACTERS DID COME AROUND BEFORE THE START AT 6:30 SO IF YOU GET THERE EARLY YOU CAN MEET GOOFY AND CHIP AND DALE. I THOUGHT THE FOOD WAS GREAT.

OH Drats. This was something we really wanted to do and were looking at September 26th. I'm disappointed its already booked. We aren't staying onsite for the second half of our stay and can't book until 28 September for this night.

Just an idea, but if you're looking for a way to have dinner, but not in one of the parks, our family likes to head over to one of the resorts and have a quick-service meal by the pool. It's relaxing, and you get to experience another resort.

Of course, this wouldn't work at Beach Club or Animal Kingdom, since the pools are not open to registered guests, but the others are. My pick would be Polynesian. The pool is has a volcano slide, and it's right next to the lake. The view is incredible. You can see Wishes (if your there that late) and the Electric Water Pageant, or even just the sunset.

Just a thought.

Thanks for the idea. We will keep checking our dates and keep our fingers crossed, but I do like your idea. We are at WDW for a total of 19days, but our first weeks ADR's are set and i don't want to try and change them. I see now it is available on the 12th but that is our arrival day and our flight doesn't get in until 4:30pm so we would struggle to make it. Apart from that, it clashes with MNSSHP and the night we had decided to do Fantasmic. The kids really wanted this one though. They have been watching it on youtube. I thought of swapping it for the luau or HDDR but neither really interest us. The Poly might be a thought.

It was crowded and character interaction was difficult for my kids. They were ready to go quickly and I didn't feel I got my money's worth. I'm from Texas, so the western theme wasn't a novelty for me...

That being said, the food was good and plentiful and I saw many families really enjoying themselves. Mine wasn't among them. They preferred Chef Mickey's where they could have the characters to themselves for a little while.

:confused3

My family did both hoop-de-doo and Mickeys BBQ the shows were fun. If you can't get in - try the Fort Wilderness trails end buffet - same food just hotter and buffet style. Afterwards we go to the outdoor movie and campfire sing-a-long (chip and dale are there). This year we're adding the wagon ride - hope it doesn't rain, I've had to cancel this for the last 2 years because of rain.

I love this idea. This is what I'm going to do. I think the kids will be really happy with this alternative.
