Hi all -

I'm asking for my mom, the amount of information on this board overwhelms her! She would like to know if the Memory Maker photo package is worth getting...she and my father are taking their five grandchildren to WDW in 2 weeks and she is obsessed with doing everything the best she possibly can :)

Thanks in advance!

If she would like ride photos and the video for 7DMT, then I would get it. There are also all of the magic shots you can’t get on your own. The Photopass photographers will take pictures with your camera to get everyone in the shot if she doesn’t want to pay for it.

I’ve been debating for my next trip, since I’ve gotten it for other trips, but this might be the last one with both of my kids, so I think I am going to splurge.

Thanks...I don't think they'd care about magic shots though the ride photos are always fun. I guess the question is are the photos they get on the rides and with the photo pass photographers worth $169 - $199? I know that's an opinion question but are they able to capture more than what your average person can? Does that make sense?

A trip with 5 grandchildren? I say yes! It would be great to be able to easily get nice photos of the kids and also include the grandparents in some of the photos as well! Will be great memories for the kids when they are older, too.

I don’t typically purchase it with just DH and I, but will be taking our two nieces in November and plan on using memory maker since it’s a special trip. I will be making Photobooks for the parents for Christmas, and though I’ll take lots of iPhone photos, I think memory maker helps take away some of the stress of getting a good shot.

Yes! But make sure she takes advantage of it. It's a small amount compared to the rest of the vacation price.

We wouldn't go without it. Unless we were doing multiple trips in a year (which will never happen)

We stop and take family shots everytime we see a photographer, so we end up with a few hundred photos by the end of a trip. Definitely worth it in my opinion to get pictures Of us all together.

It's worth it so you don't have to worry about which pictures to buy and which ones to leave behind. Also it's the only way you can get some pix, like the ride photos. The most important thing about it is if you are going to get it, make sure you get it before your trip ($169) otherwise it will cost you $199 and be sure and get it more than 3 days before leaving for the trip. And one final thing - if you do get it and you don't feel like downloading hundreds of pictures, you can buy an archive disc when you get home with all pictures and videos on it for $30.

Worth it! Just be sure to take advantage of all the PP opportunities. We love it. The magic shots are fun, ride photos are great, and it’s nice to have everyone in the pics. They get pics you would of never thought of getting. Compared to the total cost of s Disney vacay, the price isn’t that bad. If you choose not to get it, the PP photographers will happily snap pics with your own camera.

Definitely worth it! It is so nice to not drag a camera around or have to hand your cell phone to every photographer. We’ve had mixed experiences with the quality of the photos, but overall we got some great family shots and we’ll buy it again for our next trip.

I just got back from a trip with 6 people (my fam of 4 plus two relatives). I've paid for the Memory Maker on my past 4 trips and not regretted it once. My (now young adult) children can get on rides and I get the photos without standing in line searching on those screens. I download them all to my computer and then print or share at will. It seems expensive, but photos are priceless and no two trips are the same. So I am a solid YES on it and here are a couple of quick tips. DON'T wait in the long lines for photographers - catch the ones who have no one. We were at MK on July 3rd and the PP photographer in front of Space Mountain had NO ONE! I didn't even know that was a photo op, so we got something with all 6 of us which was completely unexpected. Another tip, pick a shot to do EVERY TRIP and get that one (don't pick the castle). Our family has had photos in front of Tree of Life since 2006 and every trip we arrange ourselves in the same spots, despite the fact that I am now the shortest of the four. It's fun to do and a great memory.

We just got home today. We were a party of 12 and had the memory maker. We love the videos in addition to the pics. We did several character breakfasts and some of them ahead photographers. It was worth it to us and we can all download by using the one main account

I took 1100 photos last trip and I also had the CMs take photos with my phone where they were.

It became hard to justify paying for it when we can for the most part do it ourselves. They also take the same photo with your phone.

Aside from the magic shots I don’t know if it’s worth it

I wish they charged less. I’d probably do it then. Maybe for 99, 119 tops

Absolutely yes. Fabulous photos, ask for magic shots everywhere!

Can't imagine a trip without it, especially because your mom can get group photos and then individual with each child and them . Priceless!

With this group? Yes.

I got home with over 1.000 pictures last time. If i had to purchase each of them indivually, I might have chosen 5 max.

We love Memory Maker - even when it's just me and my hubby so I would ABSOLUTELY get it when going with grandchildren. Not sure the ages of the grandkids but the great thing about Memory Maker is that if they set up their account so the kids can also access Memory Maker if any of the kids go off on their own at all they will also have access to any photos they take. We have gotten some AMAZING family photos from Memory Maker. My favorite family photo with my dad who passed away several years ago is from the entrance Hollywood Studios. It was so good I had it enlarged into a huge canvas print and it is on our wall. One of the reasons I love taking big family vacations at at WDW is because we end up with so many fantastic family photos. Our youngest just moved into his own apartment and I framed lots of family photos for him and we all laughed because almost every single one of them was from WDW - from the time he was a baby/toddler up to this past year. Priceless memories via photo!!

The kids are 16, 16, 15, 13, 11 so yes at times they may be off together on their own. Good to know! This is probably the only time this trip will happen with all 5 kids so it sounds like it's something they should do. Thanks for the input!

Thanks to everyone for their input!

It it absolutely worth it for us, part of the price of a Disney vacation.

My husband works as a professional photographer, in a studio, when he's not teaching. So trust that both his skills and his equipment are capable of getting us some fabulous pictures.

But with Memory Maker, he can choose to leave the camera at the resort. He can actually BE in the pictures.

There are other things I would drop from a Disney vacation far earlier than dropping Memory Maker.
