antee, please stop panicking. this is all posturing. they'lll go back to the bargaining table. the transit workers don't want it any more than the rest of us do.

there were several cooling off periods before the 1980 strike, as I recall. my prediction is that there will be an injunction to keep them from striking, and they'll have a few months to work things out.

how such a "perceived" smart businessman can be so stupid is beyond me. 1st all the nonsense with the commuter tax and now this. I am glad I don't live in the city because I would be kicking myself for having voted for this moron...Bring back Rudy!

I also believe an 11th hour something-or-other will happen and the strike will be averted..... hopefully.

However, what was this I heard about him advocating BICYCLING-RIDING to work??!! In addition to his suggestion of picking up strangers, I wonder if this man has lost his common sense???

People here pick up strangers in the "slug" lines all of the time. It helps get you onto HOV lanes and therefore into D.C. alot faster from the suburbs. I myself would never do it, but it is common practice in these parts.
