Is Mama Melroses THAT bad?

I LOVE Mama Melrose! I've never had a bad experience there, and I just went there a couple of weeks ago. The flatbread pizzas are delicious! Definitely give it a try.

Thanks a lot for the feedback! I really appreciate it! :) I see now that not all of the reviews are negative. With anything, I guess it's just a matter of taste & on what day you go to the place. I going to stick with it; if it's dreadful, then we will never go back. I agree w/nhdisnut, H&V was one of the worst buffets we've ever had; reminded me of the cafeteria at the hospital where I work, but 50x more expensive. It even had that awful cafeteria smell. I've never had had a problem w/Disney dining too much, cos my expectations aren't that high either! Have a great trip everyone!

We have eaten at Mama Melroses several times and haven't had a bad meal there. We generally wind up just asking for some normal things instead of what is on the menu and they haven't had any problem with that.

Last month we ae at at MMs and did not have a bad experience at all. I thought it was odd that there was no bread on the table (only italian place Ive ever seen that) so I just ordered it as my ap for the table to share. The food and service were good. The only problem was that my dd2 was having one of her academy award winning fits, and I left the restaurant with her before dessert ( I love, love, love dessert :sad2: ) And it took my DH forever to settle the bill and get out of there. It figures that service would be slow when we really needed to haul our cookies out of there in a big hurry:guilty:

I certainly rate the food to be equal to at least Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill (I like those places too)

We tried this last October and it was the the one place we really did not care for on our trip. DH and I both had the Veal Osso Bucco, which I usually LOVE, but it was not very good at all (I notice it's no longer on the menu). Can't remember what the kids had, but they weren't thrilled with this one either.

Having said that, we want to do the Fantasmic package on our next trip, so we're trying it again. Hollywood & Vine doesn't appeal to us at all and we won't use 2 credits (we're on the dining plan) for The Brown Derby, so it's our only option left. I do realize that restaurants are often hit and miss and we're more than willing to give it another shot. Can't wait to try something new.

Give it a try. You could love it!

MM is the only on property restaurant we won't go back to. Went there a few years back for the first time- food was OK, service was not so great.

My 7 year old had the chicken parm- he bit into a piece of chicken and it had a big piece of bone- and when he bit down a tooth came out. That really hurt, and he was bleeding. The waiter came over and I told him what happened- I showed him the bone and tooth and of course my son was crying and bleeding... all he said was I'm sure the tooth was ready to come out anyways.
NO moron, it wasn't. So needless to say, MM is OUT for us. Again the food was OK, not great Italian food- and service stunk.

We have dined at Mama Melrose on almost every trip and always enjoy our meals very much. We are going back in 18 days and I cant wait for the Penne alla Vodka.

Am I reading this correctly? They no longer give you bread with the dipping sauces to start? :sad2:

We also ate there in December 2006, and I agree, it was just awful. The food was subpar and the service was spotty at best. We will NEVER go back there again.

I went there for Lunch in Nov. 2006, and got a little teeny tiny plate of Eggplant Parmagiana, and it was really really really small, and I paid over 10.00 bucks for it, it had NO flavor and I won't be eating there again for lunch.:sad2:

We ate there in July last year as part of the Fantasmic package. We were also nervous because of all the bad reviews we read but we went ahead and ate there and loved it! We booked the fantasmic package at MM again for this August and can't wait to eat there again. I say go for it!

For our family, this has become our go-to restaurant IN THE PARKS. It's generally calm, quiet, and cool inside. We've always had friendly service, maybe a bit slow, but good. I highly recommend the steak with gorgonzola butter or the penne alla vodka!

We went back to MM this past May after a 2 year hiatus (not because of food or anything, but because we couldn't get the FDP for it). It was excellent. I had the artisan breads and spreads and DF had the mozzarella alla caprese appetizers. For dinner, I had a flatbread and DF had the Penna alla Vodka (he asked for it with chicken) and loved it. Since we we wanted to head to Fantasmic (no FDP), the waitress was kind enough to put our gelato into to go cups so we could take it with us. Everything was wonderful for us! :)

I was thinking the same thing about MM's. I think I will go to the Brown Derby as the Charatcers at Hollywood Vine are not for me. Unless they are ony there for lunch... I dont know. How long are the Characters there?

we ate there in Jan 07 and it was one of our favorites! (and we ate at teppenyaki, ohanas, coral reef, whispering canyon, liberty tree tavern and others). I had the chick parm and loved it!! The cheesecake was my fav dessert of the trip. It is one of only a few we will repeat in Jan 08.

It's not that it is so bad in my opinion.... it's just not that good. I'd actually rather just have a hot dog while watching fantasmic

We ate at MM on our trip in May. It was a very last minute lunch ADR while we were already in the park. I must say that we were presently surprised because we had such low expectations due to all of the post we have read. The food was good and the service was great. My advice would be to try it for yourself and see. What is the worst that could happen? If you don't like it then you know you should never go back. On the flip side you could love it and maybe you would have missed out due to the opinions of others.

Just did the MM Fantasmic Package on Wednesday. I came into it with low expectations after reading the board but I was very pleasantly surprised! The service was a little slow but that worked to our advantage- we wanted to stay in the ac as long as possible to beat the heat! I had the woodgrilled chicken & thought it was delicious! DBF had the rigatoni with italian sausage & he liked it as well. I'll admit it- for me, this was a better meal than California Grill. The only restaurant besides CG that we didn't enjoy was Wolfgang Puck Cafe.
