Is Mama Melrose that bad?

We have never been to this restaurant but have heard very mixed reviews for dinner. Is the Italian food that bad? Is it like Ragu out of the jar? We love Via Napoli and did get an adr for there but we are only going to HS one day and it would be so convenient to have dinner right in the park. Thanks

We love Mama Melrose. Beats Pizza Planet by a mile.
It has been a while since we ate there but I remember the food being very good.

We ate there 2 trips ago. We had an early dinner and weren't that hungry. Then we got our food and it was TERRIFIC. We made an ADR for MM this time so that we could plan accordingly and really enjoy the meal. I think you're bound, over time, to get bad reviews at ALL of the restaurants.

The only restaurant where we have had consistently mediocre food was Sci-Fi. Not BAD...but mediocre.

We ate there in September for the fantasmic dining package and enjoyed our meals just fine. It's not anything special but it's good tasting Italian style food in a theme park. We have a reservation there again in January!

Think Macaroni Grill, Carabbas and Olive Garden--with a smaller menu than any of those.

Its a "must-do" for us, and has been for years ! we love it !!!

Just stay away from anything too Italian-specialized such as tomato sauce based dished or calamari. It's still much better than Tony's Town Square, regardless. And I would say better than Olive Garden by alot.

I ordered a pork chop or loin of pork (I forget which) for an entree and it was really, really delicious. Overall, I enjoyed myself alot - terrific atmosphere and great wait-staff.

I'd say it's on par with Olive Garden, maybe a little better.

It's up to you whether that's "bad" or not.

Thanks everyone. We like Olive Garden, so I think we will be fine. We have never been here, so I am actually excited about going, since we seem to be going to the same restaurants every year that we go.

We have always loved the food there; the main reason we haven't eaten there in a while is we have little ones now and we go for the character meals. The ambiance is great too! Very relaxing on a very busy day.

Their steak is amazing....so is the yummy cheesy pasta that comes on the side! My family dreams of it all year
