Is Lookout Point open to the public?

Did anyone else see the story today about how a family was the first to visit Lookout Point this morning because they chartered a boat that drove them there, they were allowed on the beach because it’s public, and then they went in and looked around and took pictures?

I’m wondering, is it really possible that this is allowed? I imagine lots of companies would start offering boat rides to Lookout Point if this is really the case. Then how would it all work with the food, etc. People online are saying the beach is public, despite the fact that Disney calls it a private island. (?)

Curious to know what people on the Disboards think!

The section that applies to Bahamians

Disney Cruise Line is donating more than 190 acres of privately-owned land to the people of The Bahamas. Additionally, full access to the Property for non-commercial purposes will be provided to citizens and residents of The Bahamas. During construction, certain areas of the property may be unavailable for safety reasons.

I would guess if this becomes a concern with food for Disney, they’ll just ask people to show their KTTW cards or app info to get meals.

“Non commercial” reasons… so new company name each week?
I am not sure, but I think that might mean they cannot sell anything in the DCL area. By law, all Bahamian beaches are public. People and companies can try and restrict access to the beaches, like the way Atlantis does. DCL may be able to stop people from landing their boats on Gorda Cay (CC) but I’m not actually sure about that. Since there’s no way to walk from one beach to another on Gorda there’s less of an issue. But if you stay below the high water mark you can walk on any beach. I know that part of the concern early on was that the citizens of Eleuthera would no longer have access to Light House point.
