Hi

We have booked for 14 nights in port orleans on 21st Sept this year.

what are the crowds and weather like at this time of year?:beach:

thats good! I do like the idea of food and wine festival at Epcot.

We have been told it is hurricane season (oh well, that will keep things interesting!) but apparently that and the fact that the kids are back at school means that the crowds are quieter - which can only be a good thing!

we are also flying out on the 21st! but we are staying in a villa
september is a lovely time to go, still very hot though not as humid, not as much rain if any, and the parks are quieter. also mnsshp starts and as said the food and wine festival- which i'm not a fan of!
we have been a few times in September/October this is our fave time to go!!

I'm staying at POR from the 26th September until 10th October so I hope it's a fantastic time of year to go :thumbsup2

From what I have read so far, weather is similar to August, but a touch cooler and less humid but still the chance of the afternoon thunderstorms that you get in July/August.

Crowds should be on the light side with the exception of weekends in Epcot during the Food and Wine Festival.

It is also the WDW 40th celebrations on 1st October, although I don't think there will be many special events - just some 40th aniversary merchandise :)

Ahhh - So long as I am not the only one to have chosen this time of year to go - it can't be that bad, eh!! Perhaps we will all end up huddling under a canopy together in the rain!!

Netty - you never know, we might even be on the same flight!

We are flying virgin from manchester afternoon flight :)

We have been last week of sep and its a great time to go, the crowds are normally low and the weather is great.

Like the pps have said F&W and MNSSHP are great events to go to.

POR is a great resort and the food court has a lovely selection. The bonus of the boat to DTD and FQ is good as well as it gives you more options of places to eat out with the main parks.

I'm so pleased - We havent been on holiday for years and years - It is normally too much trouble to get someone in to look after my horses and cats etc, and then we always think of something more important to spend the money on, but after I had a bit of a health scare last year and then got the all clear in March, we decided that a trip to Disney was on the cards!

Netty - we are flying in the morning from Gatwick. I think we take off at about 10:30am

A fantastic time to go! :thumbsup2 I always go inbetween late September & mid November.

As you're going late-ish September the humidity shouldn't be very high - bareable, & the weather is pretty much perfect! Having the odd shower for 15 minutes isn't a problem, it cools everything down for a little while.

Crowds are pretty low, because i've always gone late in the year i've never ever experienced long wait times, & you can get a good spot to watch the parades too! You don't have to hold your place for an hour like you would earlier in the year.

:teeth:

You'll be a few hours ahead of us - we fly out on the afternoon Virgin flight from Gatwick. :goodvibes

Also if you're up for it there's a DISMeet at the Polynesian on 25th September - details here. :)

just a couple of other questions that we had - are there bus services that go from disney to Busch Gardens and sea world, or do you reckon we should hire a car for the days that we go to those parks?

Also, someone has mentioned a card that you can put money onto and use in the same way as a debit card - has anyone had any experience of these - do you like them or do you use something different?

We use FairFx cards, although there are others. We have used them for about 3 years now, all over America, with no problems at all. They have a Mastercard symbol on them so they are accepted anywhere that accepts Mastercard and you can take cash out of cash machines with them as well. My Dad has been topping ours up bit by bit whenever the rate goes over 1.6 and we have got about $1,000 dollars on ours now.

They are easy to use but you should make sure you have some other form of spending money with you as well just in case you come across any problems - that is always my advice no matter how people are planning on taking their spending money.

We loved September - waiting till DD leaves school/college so we can go at this time of year again. Food and Wine plus MNSSHP and low crowds but is still very much in the hurricane season but you can get lucky with the weather - it isn't right to say the rainfall is low though at that time of year - we went at teh end of October once (2005) and encountered Hurricane Wilma - but don't let that put you off, I'd still go again in Sept/Oct.

You can catch the number 50 Lynx bus from DTD to Seaworld - costs a couple of $$
I think Seaworld do a shuttle bus to Busch :)
