Is Kindle Fire an Android? want to download e-book.

I was looking on christianbooks.com and wanted to download an e-book but when I looked at what devices you can read them on the Kindle is not listed. It did list Android. Is the Kindle Fire an Android? I just got my fire for Christmas so I'm still trying to figure all this out.

When it comes to reading e-books, what really counts is not what device you are wanting to put them on, but what format the book is in.

The Fire supports the following file formats: Kindle (AZW), TXT, PDF, unprotected MOBI, PRC natively, Audible (Audible Enhanced (AA, AAX)), DOC, DOCX, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP, non-DRM AAC, MP3, MIDI, OGG, WAV, MP4, VP8.

You can convert most files to "mobi" that your kindle will read. We use a program called calibre it is free and is a nice way to organize/look at all your books on your computer and it will convert any types you have to the type that you need. http://calibre-ebook.com/ There are also many online converters for free that you can convert just one book at a time do a google search "convert epub to mobi" and you will find several.
