We are leaving for our first trip in one week, and planning to go to Animal Kingdom on Sunday the 13, just wondering Kali is worth riding and getting soaked in the middle of February?

Here are some thoughts.......

If it is a warm enough day to do it, and you are prepared to get soaked by cold water, you could do it at the end of the day and then leave the park.

We sometimes do the opposite......we enter with park with swimsuits/T Shirts on, get soaked, change in the bathroom and continue on with the rest of the day in our dry clothes.
(Note- we wear flip flops on the ride and then put on our dry shoes and socks after)

It is a complete throw of the dice as to whether it will be above, at, or below the average temps for Orlando. You may have to make you decision the night before.

Like the posters after me here---we often ride 2x or 3x before moving on with our day

It really depends on the weather. IMO, Kali isn't worth it if the temp is anywhere below 70 degrees F. To me, the main point of the ride is to get soaked (and that water is COLD). I would bring a change of clothes if you decide to go on Kali. Even in hot weather, the humidity in FL keeps you from drying off quickly. When I went in September, it was 92 degrees. It still took my denim shorts a few hours to dry completely (my shirt dried pretty quickly, but denim takes forever to dry, even in hot weather). I also made the mistake of wearing tennis shoes. Don't make this mistake (squishy shoes all day are not fun)!

I like this ride, but if it's really cold, I would probaly skip it. Bring ponchos from home to wear on it. If you buy cheap ones at home you can throw them away after and not have to lug them around.

Isn't it closed down right now? I have a ride wait times app and it says it's down every day. I peek at it to monitor crowd levels at different times of the year. I think that if it is down it's b/c it's a bit chilly for it right now.

It must be a very hit or miss ride because we have ridden it 4 times (always in the winter months) and the only part of us that got wet were our bottoms from the wet seats. However, the last time that we rode it the people sitting across from us got drenched!

We are going March 11-18, so the weather may be dicey like when you are there. Our last 3 trips have been over Christmas, so we did not ride it. We have hopper passes and two mornings planned at AK. My plan is to pick the day with the best weather and ride it that day the last thing before we leave. I also will wear flip flops that day so my tennies don't get soaked. It is a fun ride, but not worth walking around for hours wet and cold. I also hate wearing ponchos on rides as all that plastic annoys me. Hope it works out for you!

It's such a short ride anyway! Not worth it to me, to possible be wet/damp for the rest of the day!! We were there 3 weeks ago and it was closed. Not sure when it will reopen.

I checked my app yesterday, and it said it was open, so I'm not sure if it was being refurbished or what. It was closed for quite a while according to my app. Anyway, I think it's back up again.

My 8 year old son and i were in AK on Sat. (2/5). It wasn't overly sunny for most of the day, but it was warm (we were in shorts and short sleeved shirts). Temps were low 70s I think. Around 1 pm, I put on a pancho and son changed into his swimsuit. There was no wait, and we rode Kali 3x in a row--he LOVED it--LOVED getting wet. He LOVED watching ME get wet.... I did get pretty wet--should have made sure to hold the front opening to the pancho CLOSED.....Son got very wet also. Every single time.

Shortly after the ride, it started raining. I stayed in my pancho, and then later put on a lightweight long sleeved shirt before Everest. I was very glad I had that shirt in my friend's bag. My son didn't change--just stayed wet. :)

I could have done w/o Kali, (the getting wet part) but I would do it again in a heartbeat b/c my son enjoyed it so much. I did enjoy the themeing very much. Hope that helps!

When it's cool out there is usually little to no line, so I wait until we are getting ready to leave and will ride it 2 or 3 times in a row and just leave the park wet. That way you are not stuck walking around cold for the rest of your time in the park.
