Is January too cold to enjoy Pirates and Pals?

I was hoping to surprise my husband and our kids with a Pirates and Pals night for his 50th birthday. We've been to Disney in January twice before, and last year there were a few extremely cold days (for Florida). I'm so excited to do it that I'm thinking "it won't be too bad", but that's because it's 85 degrees here and the cold is a distant memory!

Has anyone done this in January before? I know the weather and temperature can vary so much, from mild and warm to super cold. Did anyone do it on a very cold night? If so, did you think it was still worth it? I'm on the fence!

Thanks!

We did an IllumiNations cruise on a very cold January evening.
We had blankets.
Still loved it.

Boat will go out as long as the temp is above 45 degrees. Blankets will be provided for evenings when temp is between 45 and 55 degrees. Last meet and greet will be done inside, not out. You should still dress warmly and bring gloves. If the night is too cold, the party is still held inside and then the group goes to the 4th floor deck to watch the fireworks.

Thank you! I think we may skip it. It sounds like a ton of fun, but it's fairly expensive to be taking the chance that everyone will just be shivering and wishing they were warmer. This will also guarantee a beautiful 75 degree weather night that night. Haha!

We did it March 2013 and it was very cold outside. Based on PP saying they only go out if it's above 45 I'm guess it was 45 on the nose. The nights we were there actually dropped below 32 by morning (they had to cover all the plants on property and it was the day before F&G started). The day time temps barely got to 50
I hate the cold, a lot.
But, the blankets they provided, along with some cheap black gloves being sold (those usually worn by CM) all over the parks, we stayed warm and cozy on the boat. We were not miserable at all.

It's going to depend upon you if it's too cold. We are from wiscinsin so those temps we might not even want a blanket. Heck we rode the dells ducks in October here and It was right around freezing
