Is January 21st-28th going to be unusually crowded?

We booked our first Disney trip with the kids or these dates as I thought the parks would be quiet. Now it seems like maybe lots of people are going to be there for EE, which I assume is the Everst opening. How crowded can I expect the parks to be because of this? I had planned on doing most of my ADR's when we got there, but now I'm thinking maybe I should do them in advance. Should we just avoid AK at the end of the week, or will everything be crowded all week?

Also, for future reference, is there any way I could have known about this in advance or are these openings a last minute thing?

Hopefully, I'm worrying about nothing but I just want to be informed.

Thanks!

Again Disney Marketting at work.

Yes, Jan 21-28 is traditionally, probably the LEAST crowded time every year. No hollidays, no events, everyone in school fresh off a winter break.

So, marketing did it's job, and created a need for people to come to WDW when normally no one would be there.

So, no....it's not going to be overly crowded. But it may be a little more busy than normal. But dont worry about it.

Expedition Everest is only open for Vacation Club members and Annual Pass Holders. I bet it makes AK more crowded on those special preview days. Lots of locals AP holders will come out. We are going tobe there too. We had AK scheduled for the first day of the EE preview. We are excited as we are AP holders from Pennsylvania and will now get to ride EE. I bet it doesnt make any of the other parks crowded.

It better not anyway!! :teeth:

These marketing people are really starting to get on my nerves ! :teeth:

Purposely try to plan around nothing & whamo !

I think the AP holders and DVC members should be encouraged to ride EE over and over and over (thus keeping them out of the other parks while we are there) LOL!!! Just Kidding : )

Exactly which days are the preview days?

Thanks everyone for their help! :)

Same question from me...we're going on Jan 21st and would like to avoid AK on the preview days. Anyone know which days are the preview days?

I believe the preview days are the 26th through the 29th.

It usually is not crowded this time of year - so even with this extra event, it shouldn't be bad in the other parks. I wouldn't even worry too much about Animal Kingdom, as the busy-ness will be concentrated on those of us waiting in line to try EE.

I'm more worried about people clogging up the restaurants using the disney dining/magic your way plans. I'm ready to eat more counter meals than normal - we never make ADRs for this time of year!
