I have Fodor's Walt Disney World with Kids 2004 and am debating if I should buy the 2007 Edition. I'm thinking that if I re-read my old version and continue my obsession with DISboards I should be okay...
What do you think???
:confused3

unless yours is well loved like mine..not much has changed...mine had so many iccky places on it I chose to get another!! :thumbsup2

I always have to get the updated one each year. It's like a ritual. I like Birbaum's book as well.

I have just about every guide book there is and I update them each year, but for my money the best one out there is the Unofficial Guide. I like to read them all from time to time and I will even go back and look at older ones from time to time. I guess you could say I am obsessed huh?

You could always check the library to see if they have a copy. Like a test drive. You can see if the new information is worth buying the book.

I would try the Passporter, I just bought one this year for the 1st time and I love it. Fodor's will pretty much have alot of the same stuff from 2 years ago so it may be worth the money to get something totally different........http://www.amazon.com/PassPorter-Walt-Disney-World-Resort/dp/1587710277

I always check out the books at the library, especially Birnbaums, its been our guide for over 30 years, do own a few but is mostly the same, not much has changed in WDW, we go every year and sometimes 2 times so we know most of everything there but do tend to pick up a few pointer from Birnbaums, more like a general feeling and use the boards for other areas plus Alears is a great sight with alot of info that easy to navigate but remember thse guides are published way in advance and things can and do change rapidly in WDW, so never be set in your ways and see the World flexible.

You know you want to, so go ahead and buy the new book. :thumbsup2

I bought Birnbaum's WDW for kids guide and it's fantastic! It's the 2006 edition (2007 wasn't out yet) but good enough! My girls, ages 9, 7 and 7, have read it cover to cover and loved reading each ride's description. Tips from other kids helped and there are lots of mentions of "hidden Mickeys". My favorite part is that they have icons for "scary", "dark", "rough" and "wet" on each ride description. One of the twins was adamant about not going on HM or ToT, but after reading the reviews, she said she may change her mind. I'm not forcing the kids to go on anything, but I'd love it if they could get through the line at HM and enjoy that classic - it's one of my all time favorites. It also helped us decide against Stitch's Escape, Snow White, and Dinosaur. I'd been on Alien Encounter and it scared the crap out of me. I'll never forget sitting in my seat, heart pounding, thinking "I'm at Disney! I'm at Disney! Nothing can hurt me here!" LOL! I don't want my kids to experience that same unbelievable fear.

I have an unofficial guide to WDW and I found it to be very helpful and I would deff. buy the 2007 one if I decide to go back next year. I have to decide on WDW or a cruise. hehe..

Regardless if I am going to Disney or not I always buy the new Unofficial Guide..... :confused3. Its an obsession of sorts....
I agree that checking it out at the library will give you a good idea of wanting to buy it or not.

I USED to be obsessed with the book, then I discovered Tour Guide Mike. $$ is almost the same cost as the books. You have to figure though, that it takes so long to compile the info for the books and then publishing time, they are not always up to date. I have my books from last year (love to read em), The Dis, and Tour Guide Mike. I was a little apprehensive at first about TGM but went ahead and did it. It's GREAT. All up to date info, and great tips. You can get a discount for being associated with The Dis. There is a link on the top of the Theme Parks Attractions and Stratagies Forum. We used it and had THE most relaxing trip to WDW we have ever had. BTW: I have no intrest in TGM other than being a happy customer. I won't ever go TGM-less again. :goodvibes :goodvibes

I've been thinking about using TGM but didn't know what the discount code was. Do you know how far in advance you should order?! If I get it now will it be outdated by February or does he send any updates?!
:yay: I wanna go now!! :yay:

I'll try to figure out how to do the code again and PM you. If you subscribe now it is good until 2 months after your trip is completed. He constantly updates it. For example, MNSSHP info was from last years party. Mike went to the first party of the year this year on Sept. 15th, and on Sept. 16th his new info about this year is posted. Great info on everything from the Disney hotels to horseback riding excursions. A little confusing to navagate at first but you'll get used to it. We went in May and I bought TGM and we are going again in December and I bought it again in August. Have fun!!!
