Is it worth it??

Hello!! First a little background. We live in Idaho. But, we lived in Florida before we moved here. My husband owned an airport 15 mins from Disney and we lived in cocoa beach. I have been to the every Disney hotel on property at least 5 times and the parks more times than I can count. My husband retired so we moved to our vacation home in Idaho full time 6 years ago. It’s been an adjustment. I have only been back to Disney 1 time since then. Disneyland about 15 times. Lol!! It’s much closer to me now. So... after my little bio. Lol!! I have a question. Is it worth going to WDW in April? We have a trip planned but I’m now doubting it. My mom is there now and says it’s just different. Which I totally expect, but I’m wondering if I should wait. DL is still closed obviously and I really need a Disney trip!!! Help!! Any thoughts advice or comments are super appreciated. I’m so indecisive. Thanks for listening!!

I say wait. I don’t want to experience my Disney in “a different way”. Or an “it’s still fun” way. I go there for a certain experience, and for nostalgia, and sentiment, and especially will go this time to forget Covid existed.

I was able to hold off. And yesterday, once I booked for January 2022, the “I need my Disney” ☹ feeling went to “I’m going to Disney!” instantly.

I hear you. I don’t know what the right decision is for others. All I know is that I could have really used “the Disney I know” through all of this going on, and when I booked, even though it’s 11 months away, it has given me exactly what I needed emotionally to get through the rest of this crazy time. So we made the hard decision and cancelled. My mom says it’s just not worth it right now. I am super bummed. But honestly it’s fun no matter what!! We just decided we would wait. So the new planning begins.

Still very expensive but not a lot of value.

hello!! Sure!! When I lived in Chicago I had annual passes and would go to Disney 6 times a year and stay at various Disney hotels. My mom worked for Disney and we got a great discount. At that brine the cast member discounts were amazing!! Then I moved to Florida and met my husband. And got married at Disney of course. My husband owned an FBO (airport) 15 mins from Disney. We lived in cocoa beach. When I married him I started working for him and we would stay at Disney hotels a few times a week instead of making the Drive home. The last 2 years we lived in Florida, about 5 years ago, we stayed strictly at the wilderness lodge club level or POR, which I absolutely love!!. I’ve stayed in theYellowstone suite and just about every other suite they offer. We also have been on about 20 Disney cruises. So yes I have a problem. Lol!! But , now I’m sooooo far away so I’ve only gone 1 time and Disneyland 2 times a year. My husband is waaayyyy over giving Disney money. So that’s the long explanation the short one is I love Disney!

One thing I've taken away from the vlogs and the comments here is that you need to bring your patience with you if you go now. Some restaurants are closed, same with some stores. If you like to resort hop that is a challenge now as well.

For us, it's still worth it to go but we know this trip will be an adjustment and won't be like the others.

Same with us. We are going in April and are looking forward to being back in the World. We are not gonna let minor changes influence our vacation.

We have pretty much decided to move our November 2021 trip to November 2022. I don't want to use our APs on a half experience. It may be more of a three-quarter experience by then, but we want 100%!

My coworker just got back from a weekend trip at Disney. She felt that it wasn't worth it. They paid to stay at Poly and a few callouts:

- She hated the new park hopper. She normally likes to go at her own speed, and is one of those "AK isn't a full-day park" but felt stuck until 2pm.
- There's A LOT of construction. Like...a lot.
- Boardwalk is lookin a lot more like the Atlantic City Boardwalk nowadays. Ample Hills is just close and sitting there. Lots of closures.
- The masks weren't an issue, but on a hot day - most queues are outdoors for the most part now, and you're standing there sweating and breathing in your own air. She said it's more so just annoying.

We have a trip booked during Christmas week, but have a few options should things not return to normal or close to normal. It's not that we are against masks or anything, but we'd prefer to not wear em. And if we're spending around 10 grand to go on a trip, we'd like it to be normal. Here's our options:

Things back to ~80% normal (shows, fireworks, no mask; No FP, DDP): Carry on as usual. Staying at BC and if it's too crowd, we'll spend more time at the pool if the weather allows. May even upgrade to Contemporary with TPV if there's fireworks.

Some things return, masks still a think: We may go off-site. Really on the fence about this one. We'll most likely do less park days. Still deciding exactly how this option will play out.

Things remain about the same through 2021: This is gonna depend on COVID, as well. If COVID is a factor, we'll get a villa somewhere so we can cook most of our meals in the room. Probably switch to an off-site resort to save some money, do a few days at Disney Parks, a day or 2 at Universal, and just enjoy being in Florida during Christmas.
