Is it worth it

Yes. As long as you plan on having a little resort time. If you are rope drop to close, park people; no. I have done several split stays. It's a more economical way to stay deluxe. I plan my busy park days during the value/ moderate resort days and my resort and leisurely park days during the deluxe portion of the stay.

I wanted to add, there is no food court like the value and moderate resorts. So you will need to spend a little more money and time on meals. Research & ask questions on here to do it economically. Also, if there is a tornado, like the last 2 Septembers, sheltering-in-place at Yacht Club will be great! And leave a lot of stories to tell too.

Thank you guys so much for you help. I think we are going to do it cause I booked it lol! I didn't know Disney moved your luggage for you, that is good to know. We aren't planning much resort time in general, but on our last few days will be spending the morning in one park, taking a break at the hotel, then going to an evening park, so we will have some time at the resort to enjoy. I think the easy access to HS and Epcot is what will be worth it to us as I was planning on taking a break at the Resort during our full day HS day which happens to be the day we check into YC, so it all works out for us.

My one question I have is the refillable mugs at the resorts. Is there a place to refill those at Yacht Club?

Hurricane Hannah's, the poolside bar & grill, is the only place I can think of. You can walk around Crescent Lake to the Boardwalk Bakery to refill there too. The Beachclub Marketplace too. The Belle Vue Lounge at the Boardwalk is a really neat place. I like to sit out on their large veranda in the morning watching people come & go over morning coffee. But you said you aren't planning much resort time, so that would not interest you.

All of these, but also the new Market at Ale and Compass at the YC has some QS options and a place to refill your mugs.

If you are planning on having Disney move your luggage and want to do a midday break by the pool on moving day then I would recommend taking your swim stuff with you to DHS or ubering your luggage to YC. We did a split last trip with the Poly and BC. Our luggage didn't arrive until 4 pm. We wanted to do the pool during our midday break and didn't take this into account. We just napped instead but it would've been nice to go to the pool.

I'm all for your split stay. You will love deluxe and it might "force" you to take it down a bit with touring since the resort is so nice and the pool is amazing. My kids decided to stay at the pool while we did Epcot because they loved it that much!

Good to know about the swimsuits. Yeah, I am glad that I am planning on moving there at the end of the trip so we will have done everything or most of it by then in case we want more resort time. Right now I have pool time planned in for our HS day and then our last day I don't have anything planned after our half day at AK except Dinner on the boardwalk (either Trattoria or ESPN) then either watching some sports games in the room and hanging at the resort or going into Epcot that night for our last hurrah. (We will probably hit the parks before our flight on Monday depending on flight times)

Oh I think you'll love it, walking to Epcott, walk or boat ride to HS. As someone already said, there is a small QS where you can refill your mugs very near the elevators. Yacht Club is one of our favorites also.

Forgot to mention, if you like ice cream, Beaches and Cream which is pretty hard to get reservations for has a walk up take out window!! YUM!
