A friend of mine is trying to plan their first trip to DW. its just her, her husband and 5 yr old daughter. her daughter doesnt each much, and they are looking at probably only 3 1\2 days. do you think the dining plan worth it? plus she plans on goin in feb, so not much will probably be left as far as character dining.

I definitely will echo Kaytieeldr. I rarely make adr's and believe me I have never been shut out of all character meals or any meal. I don't know how the urban myth started that if you don't make adr's months in advance you wont be able to get a sit down restaurant meal started but it's soo not true. now granted maybe you won't get cinderellas royal table or be our guest but in over 25 trips to the world I've never not been able to get a meal.

I also want to mention the non monetary things that may affect their decisions.

1) for a lot of people having their meals prepaid gives them a big sense of relief. for first timers that could be important.

2) with only 3 1/2 days to visit, I probably would not want to be locked into doing a sit down meal every night. that's a chunk of time out of each night to eat especially during a time when parks close early.

First they should try to book ADRs if that's what they're interested in, then calculate if the value is worth it. Some character meals more likely to have availability - Hollywood & Vine, Garden Grill, Tusker House, Beach Club breakfast.

Not easily answered. Where will they eat, what will they spend? If they plan on doing character meals every day and the child is under 10 it might be worthwhile from a strict monetary standpoint, assuming they can get into any character meals they might want at this late date. It's easy to check online and see what is still available. If they prefer a certain peak mealtime then it might be more difficult.

No matter how much the child eats, if they are planning on character meals or any other fixed price dining it won't matter. They will pay the same price for her at those restaurants whether she eats a boatload of food or just one forkful.

We used it for the first time this Halloween and my husband and I decided that we are always going with it. We loved the ease of choosing what we want and not having to worry about money when it comes to ordering so I would say it is so worth it if you are able to do it. We will always get it when we go
