Is it worth it?

We are camping at Fort Wilderness Nov 6-14. I've gotten most of our reservations set and now I'm wondering if we should buy a dining plan to offset the price of eating out. My husband is looking forward to trying new types of cuisine than he is anything else (it's his first trip)! And he has requested seafood which is pretty expensive at Disney. We will be eating breakfast at our camper (not morning people) and we can bring our own snacks. Here's what our schedule looks like

Nov 6- Hoop Dee Doo
Nov 7- BOG for lunch, Artist Point for dinner
Nov 8- Columbia Harbor for lunch, T-Rex dinner
Nov 9- Rainforest lunch, Yak & Yeti dinner
Nov 10- lunch at camper, Flying Fish dinner
Nov 11- 50's Lunch, Mama's Melrose dinner
Nov 12- Hacienda lunch, Coral Reef dinner
Nov 13- Nine Dragon lunch, Shula's dinner
Nov 14- Seaworld

I'm a bit confused if you can save your unused points that would go for breakfast and put those toward a TS restaurant. And if it's worth our while to pay for BOG and Columbia ourselves and use the dining plan for the more expensive restaurants. We are a party of 7 so I'm trying to cut costs where I can and still experience what I can.

Call Disney & ask what it breaks down to per person. I did this for our trip back in April. I don't remember which plan it was for, but it came out to $63 per person per day. Based on whatever price they give you, look at the restaurants you've chosen & see if it'd be worth it. You've got some pricey places listed, so it may work out in your favor.

If you get the regular dining plan.. It goes by the amount of nights you are there so each day you'd get 1 quick service, 1 tableservice credit and 1 snack per person, per day. You can use your credits however you like- for TS, use one, one day or save them for a 2 credit meal. Hoop Dee Doo is 2 dining credits, along with Flying Fish and Artist Point. So that right there is 6 dining tableservice credits each person has to use. You just can't use unused QS credits towards table service meals and vice versa.

Your QS credits can only be used for quick service places. We usually pay out of pocket for QS breakfast since its the cheapest and use our credits for lunch since we always book Table Service for dinner.

If you get the Deluxe Dining Plan.. Its more money but gives you more credits to use and you'd be able to do all your choices and all 3 signature meals without running out. We have never done the DxDP so someone else can shed some light as to exactly how many credits you get for QS and TS each day.

I think one of these dining plans will work better for you with the places you want to dine.

Credits aren't assigned to a particular meal. You can use them however you like. Shula's is not does not accept any dining plan but the rest of your choices do.

Thanks everyone. I think I'm going to modify our meals a bit to make it easier to fit into the regular dining plan!

Looks like you'll be staying for 8 nights. Since the regular DDP is based on nights you'll have 8 TS credits, 8 CS credits, 1 snack credit + 1 refillable mug per person. If you opt for the Deluxe Dining Plan you get 3 dining credits per night to be used for TS or CS, 2 snacks and 1 refillable mug per person.

Right now you have too many TS credits allocated and not enough CS meals for the regular DDP - you have 13 TS credits and 2 CS credits listed. On the regular DDP you have to use the TS credits at Table service restaurants and QS credits at quick service restaurants. You can't use QS credits at TS restaurants (I think this is what you mean by saving breakfast points to put towards a TS).

If you choose the Deluxe Dining Plan (DxDDP) you don't have enough credits assigned - currently you would only use 15 of 24 dining credits. Because the DxDDP is much more expensive you'll need to use about 75% for TS.

Nov 12 - La Hacienda is only open for dinner. San Angel Inn (1 TS) is open for lunch and dinner and La Cantina (CS) is open all day.
