Is it worth it?

I will be in London for 8 days in May. I have most of my trip booked up with shows, but am wishfully saving Sunday for the chance at getting to Manchester to see ManU play football. If that doesn't happen, I am thinking that my backup plan might be a quick trip to DLP. Is it worth it to make the trip if I would leave early Sunday morning (arriving in Paris at 8am) and needing to be back in London Monday for a 7:30pm show of Billy Elliot.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be GREATLY appreaciated. It would just be me going if that makes a difference. Have done Disneyland here in the US as a solo-trip, so that does not bother me at all.

135 days and counting!

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You could definitely do DLP as a one day trip :)

Might be worth posting on the UK boards here regarding Manchester Utd as I imagine unless you are a season ticket holder it may be difficult.

Thanks! I did post on the UK boards as well. I was just more worried if I could enjoy the park in a short amount of time. I was more planning Disneyland Paris as part of my next trip, but it would be cool to make a quick visit this time.

A few people, including myself, have visited DLP just for a day trip! :thumbsup2

Am I right in thinking you would be staying over for a night as well? Depending on how much you want to spend, you can book a 1 Night/2 Day package at any of the onsite hotels. Or if you're not so bothered about location, there are a good range of differently priced hotels - have a look at the Hotel FAQ sticky. And a 2 day hopper pass at the gate would cost you 95 euros. :)

THANKS BEXX!

That is exactly what I was thinking. I will check the hotels out. I have never stayed on-site for any Disney visits, but this might be a good excuse to do so.

I feel much better knowing that if I don't get to see Rooney, I will at least get to see Mickey! :lmao:

Have a great New Year!

Wouldn't bother going to watch that shower up the East Lancs if i were you anyway ;) - stick to Disney i say lol

Hi there

Not surprised you got advised to to do DLP on this forum !:)
I live in Ireland but go over to football matches a few times a year so I would
definitely do a bit of research on both. Have not been to Old Trafford yet but hope to next season. As you may know, you have picked the very last round of the premiership and they play West Ham at 3pm. If the league has not already been won at that stage, it could be a very exciting day. All 10 games will kick off at the same time. Have you checked out manutd.com ? There is a link via tickets and travel to travelcaresports.com/dreambreaks/mainpage.php# which seems to be an official travel agent. Packages are currently available for this match including or excluding accommodation. Matchday costs around 189 sterling and an overnight will cost around 239 sterling. This is expensive and somebody is making a tidy profit but it is a guaranteed ticket from an official source ! These prices include other bits such as match programme and some shopping vouchers. I dont know where abouts in the stadium these tickets are for but you should enquire. Another option could be a hospitality ticket - there is an email address on the website for hospitality tickets which will probably be as expensive if not more but may be better seats with food included etc. There are plenty of ticket agencies offering tickets but to be honest these are really touts with websites so avoid !! If you have time, try to fit either a visit to the museum and or a stadium tour - have a look at the website for more details. Have you contacted any of the supporters clubs - they might be able to help either. Also check out train timetables and prices - trains in the UK can be expensive ! I guess you could check prices for flying too ! Anyway, as you can tell, I am a big soccer enthusiast who loves the thrill of being at a match so my advice would be to check out the football and see how it shapes up pricewise. Do the same for DLP and compare. The footy will be 90 minutes - I guess DLP will be much longer - but maybe very busy on a Sunday ??
Let us know your decision and if I can be of any more help get in touch.
I am currently planning our first trip to DLP for April 07 so cannot comment !!

We will also be in London in May. What shows have you booked? We saw RENT in London several years ago.

I have seen RENT a few times here in the states (ok, like 96 times in 12 states, but who's counting). The show means a lot to me and I have made many great friends because of it.

I will be in London the 8th-15th. Shows I have booked are:
Tuesday-Billy Elliot
Wednesday-Wicked and Les Mis
Thursday-Lord of the Rings
Friday-Dirty Dancing
Saturday-We Will Rock You and Mary Poppins
Sunday-ManU or DisneyParis
Monday-Billy Elliot
Tuesday-Fly home

Throwing in the touristy things and it should be a full week. Planning on Tate Modern, The war Cabinet rooms, Harrods, NIKEtown (of course-I work for the company), and a walk or 2.

I am leaning towards soccer because I would like to do Spain and France in a year and a half or so and was going to do a longer visit to DLP then(3 or 4 days). Not that going on this trip would be a bad thing!

Thank you HAZELGROVE for all the great info. I will look into the package deals. I look at this as a once in a lifetime deal, so if I need to splurge to make sure I have a great seat and experience so be it! I have also been told to just buy a tickets from a scalper (I forget what they are called over there) but not knowing the way things work, it would not be my first choice as I would be ripe to be taken advantage of. I would rather spend a little more and make sure things go smoothly. I am also going to check with my work and see if there are any connections to get tickets that way. Not going to hold my breath on that option. I am just a little minnow in that great big corporate ocean.

And Luke, not sure where you get the tickets to watch them shower, but I am sure that I can not afford those tickets! :rotfl: Would be worth it as cute as Ronaldo is though! :rotfl2:

Thanks to all for the thoughts...keep them comin! I appreciate it a lot!

and before I forget...HAPPY NEW YEAR! Hope you all have a memorable 2007!

Wow ~ you have a busy few days there!! :yay:

Hope you manage to get your tickets for Man U but not being a football fan, DLRP would definitely be my choice any day!

Happy New Year! :goodvibes

"December 24th, 9 P.M. eastern standard time . . . " (I just had to throw that in!)

I saw RENT in L.A. (Neil Patrick Harris), N.Y, and London. But you win!

Sounds like you'll have a fab time in London.

Cheers!

Never got to see NPH live, but the videos I have seen of him are incredible.

I did watch RENT on Christmas Eve, I watched one of my bootleg copies and started it at 7pm my time (9pm eastern) right on that line!

One of the other funny "time" moments was in St. Paul on New Years Eve, when the line about how much longer to New Years and they said the actually time that was left. Gotta love live theater.

Enjoy the new LA cast of Wicked. I really want to do "The Price is Right" and the Ellen show, so I may take a couple days and try to do them and Wicked this spring.

Cool!

Neil Patrick Henry put on a fantastic performance. Much better than I expected, and he had some very big shoes to fill.

I saw Wicked the first time it came to L.A. It was an outstanding production (and much better than the book). Now I wish I saw Kristin Chenoweth in the Broadway production. We were in Manhattan at the time, but tickets were impossible to get.

Back to RENT: "There's only us . . ."
