Is it worth it to go to DL for a 1/2 day?

I'm in the process of booking a cruise that arrives in LA early in the morning for mid Sept. I was wondering if it was worth it to get a day pass and visit DL before catching a late flight home. I've been to DL many times in the past but it's been a while since I've visited the mouse. Need to figure this out in the next 48 hours as once I've got the cruise booked tomorrow will be booking air pretty quickly afterwards... Thanks for your help... I think if you have the money, go for it! I wouldn't do a park hopper for a half day though unless you have things you must see in both parks. I'd suggest just a single park ticket.

Halloween Time starts on Sept. 7th this year, so it could be really fun to walk around enjoying the decorations and special treats. HM will have the NBC overlay by then and SMGG will be up and running, too. Here is the link to all the Halloween info: Mickey's Halloween Party and Halloween Time Superthread 2018!!. Check to make sure that your planned visit isn't a MHP date (DL will close early to non-party guests on those dates). If your date is a MHP date, then you might want to splurge for a park hopper so that you can go to DCA for the rest of the evening -- the Halloween decorations in that park were new last year and are really well done.

We are booked on an Oct cruise that arrives in LA - we are planning to do a day somewhere, either DL or possibly looking at Knotts...we are going to book an early morning flight the next day though, as being from Canada and adding in the exchange, 1 day tickets are pricey and we want to get a full day in. I would def say do 1 day :)

I like DnA2010's recommendation to stay over one night if you are planning on doing Disneyland. In for a penny, in for a pound, I say! 1-day passes are very pricey and you will waste a lot of time in the morning and at night with travel-related delays. Just go, have a ball and end the night in a hotel room, not exhausted in a cramped plane seat.

Sometimes when I need a little Disney magic I take the first flight down from Seattle and the last flight home. It works out to just over half a day in the parks and is well worth it to me!

* brand new frontierland walkway, may not be visible if it is used to line up folks for SWGE
* new architectural rendering of Court of Angels
* could be your last ride on the Matterhorn, next time it may be bumpy
* spit and shine on Peter Pan and Alice...and just what are those fences for anyhow?
* maybe find the corner of the left over tiki merchandise pushed aside for Halloween.
* explore how fastpass lines spill out into the walkways.
* ride the train one more time without reference to SWGE.

never take anything for granted....I thought I was going to ride the Coast Starlight amtrak to Disneyland for the rest of my life......that late arrival into Union Station became too expensive, along with the pulling of the Parlor car for reserved sleeping guests.

If money is no object, then sure. I have an AP so half a day is something I do without thinking twice. But I don't know if I could justify the cost of a 1 day ticket.

I have an AP and I fly from Portland, OR same as lunaland for day trips.
First flight into LGB or SNA and last flight home works nicely for a day in the parks.
People (including my husband) think I'm crazy. Makes for a long day but I feel it's worth it.

If I'm going for rides and fun I have to have a minimum of 6 hours in the parks to make it worth it.

During holiday times when I want to see decorations and taste the food, I'll go if I can squeak in 4 to 5 hours.

I say your on vacation.... Why not?

First off I'd like to thank everyone for their replies. I'm going to book a 8pm flight home via LAX so I can spend a 1/2 day at Disneyland. Realistically due to the very early arrival time at the Port of LA it makes it viable, as no matter what morning flight I book, I would still be stuck in an airport for hours anyway. Might as well make it a day and since I'm doing a minimalist packing this time, taking only a backpack for 5 days, it makes it viable. It would give me 5 to 6 hours in Disneyland which is enough time to get on HM, and view some other areas of the park I love during the Halloweentime celebrations. Since it's a Halloween party night, I'd be leaving just as the crowds start to build for the party. My only additional costs would be for the extra taxi ride and the park ticket. Which is minimal compared to what the rest of the trip is going to cost me. Really looking forward to the cruise and my day at Disneyland!

Our last trip with our AP's this year we booked the first flight out of Sacramento into LGB and the last flight out of LGB. I think we ended up with about 5.5ish hours in the park. Everyone we knew thought we were crazy too. :)

Ive done it. Arrived at 9am and left at 6pm. Had a great time by myself and was able to get a ton done.

This trip came out of the blue for me. Normally I plan things and research a trip for many months before booking anything. I've had a really rough 6 months and was desperate to get away somewhere and detox for a few days. When the cheap sale on cruises with PCL was emailed to me I spent a week arranging time off at work and bugging DH to let me go, and went for it. Everything is now booked except for the day pass which I'll buy via the Disney website closer to the trip, and the waterproof camera I've been eyeing for the past month. There's no way I'm taking any more trips without a waterproof camera. I've killed 3 digital cameras on trips the past 5 years due to humidity and there's no way I'm taking another trip without a waterproof camera. Really looking forward to the trip, as it's a much needed break.:goodvibes
