Hello! Santa is bringing his gift early this year to my DS9 and DS6. When the Elf on a Shelf arrives he's bringing 4 airline tickets and hotel info with him for a quick weekend trip November 21-23. We land at LAX at 11:30pm so no park or DTD on the 21st.

This is our first time at DL for the holiday season. We've been many times before. I currently have 3 hotel rooms booked for the two nights and need some help choosing. We will not have a car.

Carousel inn and suites concierge room ($188/nt after tax)
Desert inn and suites parlor A ($181/nt after tax)
Disneyland hotel standard room ($334/nt After taxes/fees)

Which would you choose? Is the DL hotel worth the extra $300, or would you spend that at DL instead?

We've never been able to stay there and probably won't unless it's a super short trip like this. We are most likely going from rope drop to close. We want to do all things that are holiday season only. However, if we stayed at the DL hotel a quick dip in the monorail pool would be required.

Hmm, that is a tough call but since it is just a quick visit and you will likely just use the room to sleep and shower, I would go with the DI&S and splurge on a really nice meal with the $ you are saving!

If you really are going rope drop to close and are not returning to the room for an afternoon rest I would vote no. The extra hour entry is nice but I don't personally think that alone is worth $300. Maybe do a nice meal or some extra Holiday souvenirs!

Confused are you only staying one night? What time does your flight leave the next day?

I'm going to assume this is for a two night stay so a total of $300 more? It's totally worth it!

With kids ages 9 no 6, they may need a little break. They're at that too big for a stroller stage and little legs get tired. My kids have always insisted on midday swim breaks.

The rooms at the DLH are just fabulous. Big and the theme is incredible. It's such a blast to take the Monorail into Disneyland after a midday break.

I'd go with the Desert Inn. Close to the esplanade, relatively budget, allows for a deposit on your next trip. :)

I didn't enjoy my Carousel stay so I personally avoid that.

But check out Pizza Press for dinner if you like pizza. :)

Just gotta say your elf is much cooler than ours! Elfie and Elvira just caught trouble at our house. Sometimes they make messes, but the more annoying thing is when they run to the North Pole overnight, and then come back to the same exact spot to watch the kids, like they never moved! :scared1: DD gets so offended when this happens! And they certainly never bring us gifts!

Our flight arrives Friday the 21st at 11:30pm we leave Sunday out of SNA at 8:05pm. So it's for 2 nights and 1.5 days.

Yes it's a 2 night stay. We've been to DL many times. My DS9 has no problem walking from RD to close. My DS6 still has a stroller if needed for breaks. However, we would likely take a quick dip in the monorail pool if we were to stay there.

Maybe the ELF will bring options for the Disneyland hotel or Desert Inn and Suites + $300 in spending money....hmmm....

I may be a bit weird, but I only stay on site for 4+ nights. Anything less is a more budget type hotel. Maybe because I know we won't spend too much time in the hotel on shorter trips?

Your Elf is amazing! Mine shows up with notes. Ha.

I agree with Rentayenta! Do the DLH! It will just add to the holiday spirit!!

Of course my vote is always DLH all the way!!!

It all depends on what your vacationing style is. Is the Hotel an important part of you vacation or is it just a place to sleep and shower? Will it impact your budget so tightly to stay at the DLH that you will miss out on doing other things? Worth is very different from one person to another.

I think I have noticed that when it is a big stretch on someone's budget to stay at the DLH they seem to be disappointed with the Hotel. Likewise, when people typically travel and stay in nicer Hotel's they seem to be disappointed when staying in the Motels on Harbor.

For us, we won't stay anywhere else other than onsite. We like the Hotel which has more of a resort feel than the Motels on Harbor. It's a very comfortable place for us as it fits in with our typically vacationing style. Staying at the DHL for us doesn't stop us from enjoying other things we would like to do like diners or tours etc., our kids are older now and are not into the park shopping anymore but I can't wait to visit the Pandora Store

I'm quite interest in the skating rink in DTD this year for our visit, I think the village and skating sound like a new fun thing for our family to do and that would be just right outside the DLH.

Whichever you choose, hope you have a great visit!!!

It sounds like your not only in the parks ALL day but your not getting to the hotel until very late each night since the flight is so late and the Parks close late that time of year. That's such a short amount of time in the hotel; I would just go the cheaper route and save the DLH for another trip. It could be fun on a short trip if the Parks were closing earlier so you actually had some non-sleeping hours there.
