Is it worth going for one day pre-cruise?

We were thinking about taking the kiddos for one day pre-cruise. The cost is getting to me though. I estimate it will cost $475 for the day including hotel (breakfast included place), tickets and meals (fast food). Just seems like alot for one day. Any tips to make it cheaper? We would only visit DL not DCA. Oh, and my kiddos are 4 and 6.

Thanks,
Monica

I'm a little confused by what you mean by a "pre-cruise". Do you mean you want to go for one day before you go on a cruise? It would be expensive. I can't say if that would be worth it or not. Don't know how to bring that down except by small things. The kids can share a meal, have only water to drink not soda, adults can share a meal too.

Yes, we are going on Royal Caribbean 7 night from Sun to Sun. We were already going to fly in on the Sat before and stay by the port but were thinking of flying in on Friday and going to DL on Sat. I guess we will have to think whether it is worth the cost or not. Right now I am thinking not.

Thanks, Monica

Maybe sometime when you can spend a few more days. The price goes down per day for each ticket when you go for more days. If it is worth it just depends on your family. Have fun on your cruise! I've always wanted to do that but never have. :)

I suppose it would depend on when I had last been to Disneyland or anticipated going back.

IF: I lived far away, didn't think I would plan a Southern California trip soon, and would already be there for a cruise (airfare being the big expense), I'd probably do it, even for a day.

IF: I'd been in the last couple years, was planning to do a bigger DLR or So Cal trip in the next couple years, or lived close enough (neighboring state?) for that to be a good possibility, I'd probably skip it this go-round.

We're doing something similar, we're doing a NCL cruise Saturday-Saturday. We are going to Disneyland right after we get off of ship Saturday morning, and then have a 11:55pm flight home. So no additional cost for hotel, just tickets and food. We have already been to Disneyland twice. Since we are from Indiana and don't make it to California much, it's worth the cost for one day.

Well, very good points about the chance of returning soon.

We go to DW every summer but will probably take next summer off as my brother is getting married mid June and I don't want to do July. I guess if Aug has good deals we will go then. Maybe just me and the kids though.

We haven't been to DL since my girls were 3 and 1. I LOVE the weather even in the summer it's great, much better than TX! I don't know when we would be back. My girls are still young so our choices are DW, a cruise, DL, or the beach somewhere. When they are older we will start traveling more with them. For now DH and I take those trips without the kids. We've tried doing other things with them Charleston, New Orleans, Virginia (Williamsburg, etc.) and the trips end up being just OK. So for now that's the plan. I can't wait until their older and we can make use of our neighbors house in Corsica! Although these years are so precious to me.

I think we will just wait and see what DH's bonus is like this year. That's a big question mark. If it's great like last year it will make it an easy choice. I will have to wait to book the flight though. Well, maybe I will do Southwest and book each leg seperate. Then I can just change one way if needed.

Thank you!!!

Monica
