Is it worth going for just a week ?

We think of it as 7 full days ;)

Day 1 - travel, get to hotel for 5ish
In between - full days
Last day - 3/4 day, leave for airport at 4ish

By my logic, we are only an hour short of seven full days :)

We have arrived on an early flight (3pm ish) and left on a late flight (9pm) so you can just about get 7 full days there, although going into MK on Xmas day, arrival day is very tiring. We are lucky we don't suffer any jetlag outbound, only on return to UK.

Yeah, we're reckoning 6 and a half days. I was getting very confused with the whole 5/6 day thing, when I was certain we were looking at 6 days in the parks, plus however long we dare on the final day before heading back to catch the DME :)

Thats not a traditional(as in a package) 7 night holiday. If you bought a 7 night package you would get 7 nights in the hotel

Ok, I understand now.

Usually when I talk about "nights" it means "nights away from home", so the night on the plane is included.
but I understand the "7 nights package" :)

Yes it is worth it and we have done 8 nights with two teenagers. We went in February as a surprise trip and had a great time.

I think that any time in Orlando is better than no time there.

We've done 4 nights for an anniversary before, adults only of course and it was great. People are happy to go to New York for that length but not Orlando when it's not really a significant difference in flight.

We've done 7 days for a cruise last year with the kids and that was great too although the kids really need 3 days to get into the time zone I've found.

I think it depends on how much you plan on cramming in. We have done 10 nights before and are doing 9 this Christmas due to limited time we can both get off work. It works fine for us. As someone else said I'd rather do 7 days than none at all :)

absolutely.

Last year we went

Flight - Dublin, Atlanta, LA
2 days in LA
Flight to Vegas
2 days in Vegas
Flight back to LA
1 night in LA
Flight back - LAX, Amsterdam, Dublin

5 nights, 6 days in total with travel. I felt like zombi for few days but that's about it. I will do it again in heartbeat!

7 days is better then no days. On the way over you will be happy and exited, so it won't feel too bad. When you come back it may be bit worse but what's the worse that can happen - being tired for few days?

Like others, we have done a week. I would much prefer to go for longer but am planning a week-long trip with my daughter in March for her Birthday. Neither of us can afford much longer than that away from work so a week is perfect.

We're planning on doing 7/8 nights next year, however we're also going to NYC, Washington and Boston so we'll be accustomed to US time by the time we reach Orlando. :)
