Is it worth doing MVMCP again ( at current exchange rate)

We will be at WDW at the end of November. I have booked the Christmas Processional which we have never seen and Minnie's holiday dine with Fantasmic. The big question is whether to do the Christmas Party which is nearly 100 Canadian dollars. ( my children are now Disney adults) We did go a couple of years ago but it was crowded and we got tired so probably didn't make good use of our night. Is it special enough make a return visit? The cost of park tickets etc in Canadian funds is already quite staggering. I just hate to miss out since we are already paying so much and may not get back at that time of year for a few years.

personally? NO! You will still be able to enjoy the wonderful decorations, the last year of the Osborne lights and my favourite, the Christmas Processional. You run the risk of it not only being busy but also COLD! Not nearly as cold as here in late November but the pictures i have of us at the last one we went to we all had jackets, gloves and HATS!!! Way too much (even without the exchange) for as you put it in another thread "a parade & hot chocolate"

Have fun and use the cash for sumtin else!!

I also vote no. I am a huge Christmas fan and a huge Disney fan. MVMCP is pretty much the marriage of my two favourite things! We went two years in a row. The second year was enjoyable, but IMO not worth the price tag. I just couldn't justify it at this exchange rate.

DW and I went several years ago and then we went again with our grown kids a few years ago. I think we're done, so I'd say no. The only exception is if you really like the performances that are held then and no other time. Even then it a lot of $$ for what it is.

If it were me, I would not do it. Yes, the parade is great, the hot chocolate is a fun treat but if you are going to be in the parks anyway I wouldnt pay extra for it. Our family went about 10 years ago and loved it but not enough to pack it on top of full park visits. The Halloween party is different in mind because of the trick or treating and all the great costumes, that I would do again with parks in a heartbeat!

My suggestion,,skip MVMCP
Take a fun trip to Disney Springs,
1.Take a family photo upon entrance with the Christmas statue.
2.Have a bite to eat.
3.Take the "Goofy Christmas Gift Challenge" Give each participant 25.00 dollars.
4.Sip on some Hot Chocolate and eat a few treats at Starbucks while you exchange your "Goofy" gifts.
5 Take in a movie or go bowling.
All of this is much cheaper than MVMCP.

Just something I thought up
feel free to ignore
Hugs Mel

Yikes...it looks like I am the only one in favor of it...but then I don't know your plans. If I had a 7 day pass for the week then no, I would not go. If I had a 4 day pass then yes, I would go. We always have down days while at Disney and I always go to MVMCP as I do not visit the parks that day and am well rested. Once my non expire tickets are used up, then I also will have to reassess the situation. Have fun as it is the greatest time to visit WDW

We will be there a week and are very excited as we arrive very early and leave late giving us really eight days or partial days at the parks. We went for four days two years ago but it was far too rushed and we went too early so a lot of the decorations weren't up yet. Still torn as much as I am over who to vote for tomorrow.

I can't speak for the Christmas party specifically, but we just returned from Orlando and did two MNSSHP's while we were there. Even with the current exchange rate factored in, we also thought the parties were very much worth it. Of course, I am of the opinion that if you're there during special events, seize the moment and do everything you can :) (just in case you don't ever make it back at that time of year again).

Edited to add.....our 2 parties were the only Disney park days we had. The balance of our park days were spent at Universal. We arrived at 3:30, were admitted into the park by 3:45 each day, and didn't leave until just before midnight.....so we squeezed out every moment we could for our $74 US pp.

I agree with Gina and my answer varies I guess. If it were my ONLY Magic Kingdom day I think the party is a great value. When I went to the second party I mentioned above it was one of several MK days. It was fun, but not necessary in that context.

Here I am replying to myself! Lol. So, it seems that they will be taping (recording...does anybody even use tape anymore?) the Christmas Parade for a few days while we're there. I'm tempted, really tempted, to do MVMCP one more time just to enjoy the MK in its Christmas garb without the hassles of silly crowds and delays that the taping seems to produce. So this year, yeah, I may just go again.

Not sure if it's comparable but when we were at WDW in September we skipped MNSSHP and I don't feel like we missed much.

IF you were visiting the FL area and not going to Disney I would probably recommend going to the party but if you're already at WDW I'd vote with most others and skip it.

If it helps, I've read that many who have been at the MK on taping days have found the crowds to be quite manageable if they skipped Main Street and the Castle and just headed into the parks. They say it gets busier later in the day when the tapings end but the tapings seem to scare many away so those who do go are rewarded with reasonable crowds deeper into the park.

For us... we are in the minority and our answer is a resounding YES! That being said, it has become a tradition for our family and we have gone the last 8 years in a row. Yes, it's expensive... and a total splurge- but for me... it signifies the start of the Christmas season and is truly a magical night. We arrive at 4pm and dont leave until midnight... and ride everything, pig out on treats and enjoy the evening spoiling ourselves in the magic of Disney for a few hours.

You can not compare the two parties. I would do MNSSHP every time over MVMCP. There is so much more in my opinion to do for the Halloween then Christmas. I would save the money, enjoy the decorations and make sure you dont miss the Osbourne Lights. It is the last year. And they are included in your admission.

Ive done both parties and I can say I much prefer the Halloween party. There seems to be more to do. A cookie and Hot chocolate to me isn't worth $100 a person.
