Is it true?

I have heard in the past that when you are on the DDP that the counter service for kids can be used as adult counter service meals.
The reason I am asking as we will be there with my 9 yr old grandson this upcoming week and I think he will get sick of the childs counter service. I know when it comes to the TS he will have to eat childs meals.
Can anyone tell me if this is true?
Thank You...

I believe you can only do this if there is not a child's option available.

I believe you can only do this if there is not a child's option available.

That's what I believe is true too. But here are the QS that don't have a kids menu:
DHS: Toluca Turkey Legs
MK: Casey's Corner, Pete's Doggone Good Dogs, Main Street Bakery, Golden Oak Outpost
EP: Sommerfest, Yorkshire Country Fish Shop, Boulangerie Patisserie
These places (although limited in choices, would let you have anything on the menu and long as it fits in the DDP guidelines for a meal) might have a good option for you.

While it is true the credits are not seperated, it is NOT true that you can always order an adult meal for your child.

Your card tells the cashier that you have paid for, let's say, 2 adults and 1 child on the DDP. So, if you walk up to a CS and order 3 adult meals, you will be paying OOP for one of them or changing your order because you can only order 2 adults and 1 child at the same time.

Leslie Lou is correct, and Disney's written policy on this is very clear. You can use a childs credit for an adult meal only when there is no child's menu available, and Doclegler listed the locations where there is no child's menu available.

Hope this helps you find some alternatives that your grandson will like. :goodvibes

An option for you could be to upgrade him to an adult, then he will have more choices. This does involve upgrading his park ticket too though. That isn't a big deal since the difference between children and adult park tickets is only about $25.

If you are paying for his dining plan, I guess it all depends on whether you want or are able to spend the extra money on his dining plan.

We have fd so it didn't cost us extra to upgrade my daughter's dining plan, just the cost of the upgrade to her park ticket. Definitely worth it to me.

Someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

As others mentioned, no it is not allowed to do as you asked. However, there are lots of way to be sure that your grandson is NOT sick of the kids menus...it just takes lots of planning!

We've been a few times with 2 kids on the DP...and while they don't mind many of the typical kids fare, I knew they wouldn't want it for every single meal. So this is what we did and they managed to eat a good variety for the week:

1) Planned many buffet meals - so they could get a TON of variety with fruits, veggies and meats for at least one meal a day.
2) Used kids CS credits for breakfasts at the food court or places like Mainstreet Bakery. We found that kids meal breakfasts were just as good as adult.
3) Split some adult CS meals in the parks instead of using any kids credits. Sometimes we would supplement with an extra side or dessert.
4) Go to CS places with the most kids variety. For us, this included: Sunshine Seasons, Wolfgang Puck Express, Main St Bakery, Starring Rolls, La Cantina in Mexico.

By using all the above, my kids only had nuggets, etc. once or twice on the trip.

Happy Planning!
