Hello! Just wanted to pop on over and say "hello"! Made the decision today to book a 2-night, pre-cruise stay at AKV-Kidani in a studio unit for me and my DS (11). This will be our first on-site Disney stay and we're totally just going to relax at the resort - no parks this visit. I'm too excited about that!

Any tips or things we should definitely do while at AKV? We'll be there March 29 - 31st - woo hoo!!

so I just found out from my job, that I will be in Orlando Nov 27 thru Dec 2....

I will be at the convention center almost the whole time... but I will be down there.

My TiW card is still valid until 30th of Nov so I know I will have to get down there somewhere...

But my APs ran out in Oct....

So no park visit, but in the evening I should find something to do... BTW I am taking David with me

No suggestions but for anytime at the World! Just checking out the deluxes that time of year is fab!

Congratulations on your stay... You are going to AKL. Be sure to check out the activities sheet when you get there, it list a ton of things to do around the resort. If you have any specific questions please just ask. We are here to help.

What fabulous news!!! It should be perfect pool weather by then. Kidani has the greatest water area that DS might fall in love with!

Yes, we could get our APs but we were not going to get them for one day...

I will be working everyday and almost all day, so we really only have evenings...

I made a reservation for us at Il Mulino for dinner Wednesday night!

David will be working also, it was really just amazing that we were both sent to the same conference...

Oops, I saw 5-6 days and thought maybe you'd be able to slip over there more than just 1 day. So glad you were able to get an ADR! And what wonderful luck you are both being sent to the same conference!

I just realized you leave this Sunday, I'm doubly glad you were able to get an ADR!

Thanks for the 'welcome'! I booked the studio at Kidani, but now I'm reading that Jambo house is more centrally located and is where the quick-service restaurant is. How far is Kidani from Jambo house? Can we walk there or is the property too large to walk it?

It's a nice little walk (about 10 minutes) -- or you can just hop any of the park buses at Kidani. Next stop is Jambo House! If you want to bus from Jambo to Kidani, take the DTD bus!

Yep... We leave bright and early Sunday, and come back mid day on Friday...

Then I leave on Sunday for Colorado Springs, CO, for another conference, and come home on Wednesday, but David has to stay home for that one...

So I usually work nights (I'm an editor for a newspaper), but because of the holiday week, my schedule is all screwy and here I am at work at 7 a.m. But being up this early got me thinking about Disney (because it's virtually the only place on Earth where I wake up early). I want to know from you experts, what are your favorite nooks and crannies you like to visit during your stay at AKL?

...ITA - we stayed at WDW twice during Presidents' Week, which is much earlier in the year, and it was definitely okay to swim then, so March should be good.
