Is it true? Now the ceiling fans are going away?

After reading a few posts about overriding the thermostats at the BCV some have said that they needed to do that because the rooms were getting stuffy b/c they ceiling fans were no longer there. If that is true then why are we paying dues for our resorts to only be reduced to regular hotel rooms? Whats next? Mini fridges replacing the full size ones in the larger units? Take out the dishwashers? I thought DVC was supposed to be our home away from home?

Seems that DVC management doesn't like fans. Seems that their goal is to turn the DVC rooms into regular hotel rooms like you would find anywhere. They are also removing the jetted tubs from some of the resorts.

:earsboy: Bill

We were huge fans of the ceiling fans. Was worried we'd be warm at night at BCV's because we sleep with room cold. No worries. Room was just as cool as we like it without fans.

I think it is a decorator problem as most decorators hate ceiling fans say they are old fashion and out of date. I think they don't live in the south.

::yes::

Sometimes function needs to outweigh design trends. I personally am not a fan of ceiling fans but even I have never walked into a room and thought I needed to leave because having them was just too atrocious to my eye. And I have a couple of family members who pretty much need them or really can't sleep.

I am one of those people. That fan had better be there in July when we are or this hot flash suffering Mama is not going to be a happy camper and they will hear about it.

As you've probably gathered here, the ceiling fans are already gone at some resorts. The most recent renovations at BCV, for example, did away with ceiling fans. I'm another one who doesn't understand. We live in a climate hotter than Orlando (yes, it exists) and have a ceiling fan in our bedroom. We've used it every night we've owned the house for the last 14+ years, except for less than 5 nights. So I just can't imagine the thinking.

We live in a subuarb of Dallas and have a ceiling fan in every room but the bathrooms. During the warmer months they are constantly going. Cooler months the one in our bedroom is on all night long.

I wonder if this situation is like cooking a live lobster by putting it in cold water and slowly increasing the heat until it's boiling

No, that's a frog you're cooking, not a lobster.

Well, anybody that is up with trends would realize the old ceiling fans are not in style anymore. Lazy decorators would just get rid of them. Good decorators would add style with new ones. Lots of good new styles.

Love the Possini Euro Brushed Nickel one down the page..

I think the Boathouse has the wet climate Casa Veja one out all around the dockside bar.

Don't they understand it cost more to run A/C all the time than having a few fans.

I know! That's what I don't understand. Here in the south, we were always taught that it's best to have as many ceiling fans in your house as possible, because it's a cost-saver.

We're talking about Disney here. I have found that they don't give a flying crap about anything practical and cost saving. There is some thirty something at a desk somewhere in WDW making 100k a year that thinks that his idea of getting rid of the ceiling fans is a good idea. I guess you trade in your common sense when you get paid that much.

Ok this is ANNOYING!!!!

Really Florida climate is removing ceiling fans.
I stayed at BLT 1br and it was new and I was like why in the world no ceiling fan????
ThIs is stupid!
Ok so now I want to know which resorts and rooms DO NOT have ceiling fans?
Thanks
Kerri
