For some of you folks, and you know who you are, to coral your shopping carts when you are through with them in the parking lot ?


40 mph wind + objects on wheels=dangerous projectiles

That is not a hard equation to figure out.

I know some of you, don't give a rooty toot toot about your vehicles, but some of us do. I literally had to sprint across the parking lot to keep Pearl from being hit by a speeding basket I had parked in a spot in which she would be safe, but the winds changed direction when I was in the store.I do not want to hear any excuses, I have had small kids, broken limbs, bunions but still put up my basket

While we are on the subject, I have contacted John Walsh of Americas Most Wanted on the subject and the hovering problem we have in ladies rooms. I bet the basket bandits, I bet they hover as well. He is starting a new program which alerts store and mall security regarding these offenders

Put your baskets up folks, they can be dangerous And stop hovering and tinkeling!!!

I always coral my shopping cart when I'm done with it. The corals are located throughout the lot and they are always close enough so that you don't have to walk far at all. I would never just leave it so that it will be adrift through the parking lot especially now that the fall breezes are picking up. Plus, I remember on Judge Judy one time that a woman's car was dented because another woman (defendant) hadn't returned her cart to the coral and she (defendant) was held liable for it. The Judge said that the cart was her responsibility and she should have returned it and not just leave it in the lot.

I'm one that always corals my cart too. I would never dream of leaving it out in the open lot to be blown into someones car. I'm pretty particular with my vehicles too (although you may not think it judging by the dent left by my DS when he & DD were playing catch over the summer and DD failed to catch the ball letting it slam into the side of my SUV Wasn't real happy about that one). Anyway, I agree. Coral those carts please!

One of our local grocery stores has an employee who brings the carts in. Not unusual I know, but this guy is so quick and most of the time he is standing behind you when you finish emptying your cart into your car. He takes the cart right back into the store! I love that guy

Thank you! I came out of Walmart the other day to find two carts parked into my car. They didn't get there by chance, one was parked there and you know the next person saw that one there and decided "Hey why don't I just put my cart there too?" Take the few extra strides it takes to put your cart away. I have enough people to clean up after at home!

I always corral my cart as well. Letting them roam freely is definitely one of my pet peeves!!

We have a local grocery store with a cart system where you place a quarter in the device on the cart handle to free it from the rest. Then WHEN YOU PLACE IT BACK WHERE IT BELONGS you get your quarter back. I wish more places did that because they've had better than average success with it.

I always put my cart away.

I am not a hoverer, HOWEVER, I am a foot flusher. I NEVER use my haands to flush a public toilet. Disgusting- they're always wet!

I was in Party City a few months ago picking up some party supplies and came out to find a buggy resting up against my less-than-a-year-old car. The wind had picked up pretty fiercely while I was in the store and NOT ONE of the several employees standing around went out to get buggies. The parking lot was PACKED with them by the time I went out and now I'm riding around with a fist sized dent in my passenger door. To make matters worse, when I went inside to inform the manager that the buggy situation was out of control, it took about 15 minutes for them to come out to talk to me. In that 15 minutes, STILL, no one went out to get the buggies. As I was getting into my car to leave, I saw the woman parked across from me looking at the nice dent a buggy had just left in HER car.

In warm weather it is easier to corral, however when I lived in Alaska it was much more difficult.
Seriously, I always corral, but every time I do, I remember that little baby that was stolen out of the car while her mom went to put the cart away. I just have to sit and obsessively lock the car door....and then I SPRINT to the cart place.

I either leave the cart in the store or put it away. I have to say that our Walmart doesn't have "convenient" cart corrals at all. They are about 10 spots down the line so everyone that parks in handicapped spots would have to walk a ways to put their carts away. Most of the cart left out in the lot are near these spaces. It would make sense to put some right by the handicapped spaces. It kind of defeats the purpose of having handicapped parking otherwise.

I did have a lady come up to me the other day and grab my cart practically out of my hands and say, "I'll take that since you weren't going to put it away". I just looked at her-I had JUST taken my last bag out of the cart and still had it in my hand. I couldn't figure out what she was talking about.

When the kids were little I tried to park near the cart corrals.

That's how our Walmart is too. There are only 2 (yes, I am serious) cart corrals for the ENTIRE walmart parking lot. They are both at the end of the parking lot too... so there are literal cart corral parking spaces where a entire parking space has become a place where ppl park there carts.

One time at WalMart I had to go a couple aisles over to take my cart back and when I got back to my (locked) car there was a woman standing there yelling that she was calling the police because I had left my kids in the car, and I better not drive off because she had allready written down my license plate number. I showed the lady my bags and explained that I had only left them there for a minute while I took my cart back. She was still yelling at me that I should never leave them alone in the car!

By the way Michie, are you one of those people who park 5 miles away and take up 2 parking stalls to protect your baby, I mean car? Just curious.

haha! We have a little guy like that at our Kroger. Last week my hubby and I were putting up our groceries and he just stood behind us waiting for the buggy. Although he didn't offer to help put them away, lol. He's asian and doesn't speak much English, and cute as a button. He always just smiles and nods then wisks the cart away. Gotta love him!

Oh, I hate shopers that don't put back carts! I have a Saturn, which won't dent but it sure as heck still SCRATCHES!!! I had my Saturn for about a month when I came out of Target one day to find two rather large scratches on the back driver's side door. Oh, I was so mad! I had those dumb scratches for years, until I got rear-ended. The shop that replaced my bumber from the accident buffed out the scratches, no charge!

I always put my cart back. I do hate stores that don't have enough corals though, or put them way too far away to be convienant to most parking spots. I tend to park near the corals rather than the closest spot to the front door, I often find it's a biger time save not to have to trek 3 zip codes over to drop off the cart and then hike back to the car, especially in bad weather!
