Sorry I'm starting so many posts on here at the moment but got so many questions to ask!

I have seen a couple of posts on here about DVC rentals and just checked David's Vacation rentals but they say you have to book 11 months in advance for Boardwalk villas' - is there any other places to go for the DVC rentals?

Should of done this early (story of this holiday really!!) but thought I would wait for specials on disney website but they still havent come up for October yet.

You can try Davids, the 11 months is just a guideline. There is a 90$ deposit fee to check, but it's refunded if your dates are not available. There is also DVC store and DVC Rentals I believe. I've had dealings with all 3 and had positive results. Good luck!

Boardwalk Villas is the DVC resort. The Inn is not a DVC section.

Tell me the date for check in and check out date, also need the room type and view required and I will check availability for you.

An owner at the Boardwalk can book at the 11 month window, a non Boardwalk owner can only book there at 7 months window. The booking can be made within this window up until the time for the trip provided there is availability. With the Boardwalk this might be limited closer to the time.

Thanks ColinA, we will be in Orlando from 27/10 - 7/11/14, we are looking for 4-5 nights anywhere in that period of time, I haven't booked any other accommodation yet.

The accommodation is for 2 adults and 2 children, can be a studio or 1 bedroom, not too bothered about view as long as its not a noisy spot!

Thank you, will have a look, hopefully can find something

Just checked the DVC website and only 2 nights are available during your dates there is availability at Saratoga springs for the whole time

Hi CJ2001

I have used Davids twice (Aulani and Animal Kingdom Villas) and the DVC Rental Store once (Boardwalk Villas) and think both companies are excellent.
For what it's worth DVC Rental Store will check availability without asking for a deposit first.

Because of the F&W festival it looks like you will have trouble getting an EPCOT resort. Animal Kingdom Villas are one of the bigger on property, so perhaps see if they still have availability. I can't recommend the place enough.

During my split stay I had 5 days at BWV followed by 6 days at AKV (Jambo). While the location of BWV was great for the F&W festival, I loved AKV quite a lot more. Walking out onto our balcony and watching the animals each morning and evening was magical. The pool and restaurants were great, and the lodge itself was stunning. I felt like I had been fully immersed in a Disney theme.

Anyway, good luck. It's a great option for saving money so I hope you get something you like.

There are a few individual owners who seem to have points when the brokers don't. if you ask them, they will be glad to check availability without asking for a fee. I have seen Old Grizzly and Docdds plus a few others posting on this Board and others with points available. I have never heard that there was an issue with anyone renting points from them.

Hi wanderlustNZ

What type of room did you have at Animal Kingdom?

Thanks Paul, how do I find availability on the Dvc website - I was only able to see that I had to fill out form to find availability?

Paul is correct, limited availability at the Boardwalk or Epcot DVC resorts.

You need to be a DVC member to check availability for DVC resorts.

Hi wanderlustNZ What type of room did you have at Animal Kingdom?

I was booked to stay in a 'Standard' studio, which, according to everything I have read, is a Pool View Room at Jambo House. However, for some reason I got a savannah room. No one at check-in told us we had received an upgrade, and there was some sort of animal pen down from the balcony (no animals were ever in it), so I wondered if this meant the room was still classified as 'Standard'. However, as far as I was concerned, I had been given a pixie dust upgrade. The view from the room was awesome. The scenery changed every time we went out on the balcony, but most of the time we could see giraffes.

Our first choice had been one of the cheaper value rooms, but it appears that they book out almost immediately. Knowing what I know now, if I was ever to return, I would splash out to guarantee myself a view of the savannah. They give you a tick sheet of all the animals on the complex and my son and I loved going out each day to try and tick new animals off. The whole lodge was such a peaceful place to be in contrast to the hurry of the parks.

If there are rooms in Jambo left, I recommend that over Kidani. The atrium is so much more impressive, plus they have a counter service eatery.

Thanks wanderlustNZ I wasn't able to get anything for the dates we wanted so went with port Orleans riverside for part of the trip & thinking of Hilton bonnet creek (or lake can't remember) for rest of time as the kids like the lazy river

I had not heard of these rentals before - obviously this is legit, but wth? Why aren't more people using this? I was waiting for general availability of FD, but I believe we can get a cheaper stay by utilizing this and paying for the dining plan - and stay at a better hotel. Am I missing something? I understand there is no daily housekeeping, but other than that are there any other downsides (can still use MagicBands, take part is resort perks like EMH etc.)?

There are a few risks that come with this process that some people aren't happy with. But aside from that, I just don't think more people use it because they don't know about it.

It can save you huge amounts of money and I was happy to forgo free-dining to stay in a deluxe for so cheap.

You still get access to all the perks Disney Resort guests get with the exception of daily housekeeping. This wasn't an issue for us as I prefer not having someone come into my room each day.

The cons:

(I am speaking about the process of going through a broker. Renting privately with someone you don't know can be slightly different and is not something I personally am that comfortable with. Although many people have done it successfully.)

- You have to pay in full (or mostly in full) many months in advance.
- You need to be on the ball and make your enquiries and bookings very early. Your best chances of getting the booking you want are right on the 11 month mark. After 7 months you can really struggle.
- You have to be patient. The points you need may not be immediately available.
- In the majority of cases the booking can not be cancelled or changed (this is the biggest kicker for most people).
- Lastly, there is a slight risk that you could bowl up to the resort and find that the points holder has cancelled your booking. I see this risk as being very small when going through a broker as they provide the necessary legal contract. Plus they hold onto some of the points holders money and don't pay them until you arrive at the resort and take up the booking.

Renting of DVC points is entirely Legit. People who own DVC points sometimes have left over points and rent them out to friends or anyone who wants to pay. There are brokers who take members points and make a profit to rent the points for them.

Cost wise for renting points works out not much more than the cost of a value resort. All the DVC resorts are deluxe.

Housekeeping as a DVC room either as an owner or renting of points is trash and towel every four days, change of bed every eight days. You can get more housekeeping but need to pay more, I like the systems as you do not have housekeeping coming to the room every day.

DVC owners or renters of the points have all the perks of staying in a Disney resort like Magic Bands, FP MDE, EMH. FD is not available.

One more point worth considering is that some of the DVC rooms aren't as nice as the equivalent hotel rooms in the same resort. For example, I found the BWV rooms to be quite tired and dated, while pics I've seen of the hotel rooms look lovely. On the plus side you get a kitchen or kitchenette and access to free laundry.

You had posted at the same time LOL.

If you stay in a one bedroom or above DVC room you get full kitchen and washer dryer in the room.
