I know you guys have all the answers, so hope you can answer this one:

We only have 150 points, usually stay in January in a studio (BCV) so we can max out the days there.

For 2005, my brother was going to come with us, so we borrowed 2006 points and got a 1 BR for 7 days.

Now my brother has backed out.

Is it too late to change back to a studio and put our 2006 points back? We won't mind the 1 BR, but that means we won't have but a few points to use for 2006. (probably a few days at HH)

Any suggestions? Or are we stuck?

I'm sorry to say that you are stuck. At least with the borrowing of the points you are. Once borrowed, they can't be returned (under normal circumstances). But you may want to try and switch to a studio for this trip, then make a reservation for another trip before your use year is up to use the leftover points that were borrowed.

Several things come into play here. You would basically cancel the 1br, and book the studio. If you cancel less than 30 days out, the points go into holding, and you should avoid that. If it's more than 30 days out, then it depends on availability. If it's available, then you could use the borrowed 2006 points for the studio. And, depending on your banking windows, possibly bank the 2005 points. (This of course assumes you used a mix of 2005 and 2006 points for the ressie). Your use year must be January (if you are using 2006 points for a January 2005 ressie, so you have plenty of time in your banking windows.

In any case, borrowed points cannot be returned to their original year.

Edit:
Ok, using the following assumptions: use year January, BCV studio Jan 2005 for 7 nights is 104 pts, BCV 1br Jan 2005 for 7 nights is 200 points.

If you used 150 2005 points for the ressie, and borrowed 50 2006 points, and the availability to rebook the ressie as a studio is there, you could use the 50 2006 borrowed points and 54 2005 points for the studio, and then bank 96 2005 points into 2006, giving you 196 points to use in 2006.

Thanks Cat and John - we figured we were pretty much stuck with the borrowed points. We decided we might as well just enjoy the larger room for this trip - just hope we don't get spoiled ;-) We can always do a cash trip in 2006 if we get desperate for a Disney fix!

Others may have already said this, but you can use your 2006 borrowed points toward your studio reservation and then you'll have your current points left which you'll then be able to bank if need be.

We did this last year -- they reworked it for us and it was just fine. :)
