Im not talking the tree - the boys will get the tree while the ladies I work with go to dinner Dec 9th.

However, since I have all this extra energy and will be gone the next 2 weekends (Im coming Mickey) can I go ahead an decorate my staircase and put out our Christmas stockings? decorations on my end table, etc?

It's your house, do what makes you happy. :)

Sure! It's close enough to Thanksgiving, and since you'll be out of town, go for it! That way when you return, everything will be decorated. :)

I think it's perfectly fine to get the decorations out now if you want to. Thanksgiving is just late this year. Besides, you won't even have lights in your window if the tree isn't up.

Yep, I think you can! :D

My dh couldn't wait, so the Xmas tree is up, too. We love Christmas and what better way to enjoy it but by having the decorations up for a longer period of time. Our little ones enjoy the decorations, too!

There is a good chance my tree will go up this weekend and spending the week decorating it off and on since I'll be leaving next weekend for my trip. So I think if you have the energy this weekend, do it :)

No! You should not decorate for Christmas yet! I will be the lone voice of dissension here. Didn't you read the No C Before T thread? It seems like the stores around here were setting up for Christmas before Halloween. I don't think it is officially the Christmas season until after Thanksgiving!

GO FOR IT!!!!!

In our apt. bldg., the people who live on the 2nd floor near the entrance have an absolutely beautiful tree set up in their bay window. Each window is surrounded by lights and they have lights on the railing of their balcony, too. It makes coming home from work in the dark so much nicer!!! I am sooooo in the spirit! We are going to do the balcony this weekend and as soon as Thanksgiving dinner is cleaned up, we'll do the tree and the rest of the place! That way, when we get home from WDW on Dec. 9th, we'll be all ready to celebrate the season!

We set up our tree last night. :earseek:

I have been anxious to set it up ever since November 1st, but I practiced some restraint. I assembled the tree during the day (yes, it's artificial!) and put the lights on. My sister came over for dinner and she helped me and my husband place the ornaments on the tree. We trimmed the kitchen island with garland and added little Christmas touches throughout the house.

This Sunday we are going to help my sister set up her tree. We'll also trim our house (and the palm tree) with lights and get out the outdoor wreaths.

I used to feel strongly that you should wait until after Thanksgiving to decorate for Christmas, but not anymore. After September 11th last year, I didn't really get into the Christmas spirit, so maybe this year I am making up for it! Any excuse to be happy is a good excuse! :) I'm listening to a Christmas CD now! Have fun decorating!!!! Oh, we are going to the passholder preview at MGM tomorrow for the light festival. Woohoo! I know we'll totally be in the Christmas Spirit tomorrow night!

It's too early for me to put them up.:teeth: I've seen several people with them up already, and even a few people have their trees up.

I did my bannisters and put the wreaths in the windows last night. I'll be doing the tree and some other stuff this weekend. I'm going to be away all of Thanksgiving week, so there won't be enough time to get it all done otherwise. Do whatcha gotta do!

It's definately not too early.

Christmas is a wonderful, magical time of year. There is nothing wrong with enjoying that magic for a little longer.

Plus, we are shorted a week of Christmas decorations this year with Thanksgiving.

Go for it! Enjoy it!

Go for it! I was thinking about bringing out some things myself.;)

I made and put up a handmade wreath (thanks to the Carol Duvall special) on Sunday. I love looking at it as I walk up to my door!

I do alot of handmade stuff for Christmas and build up to the actual decorating. It makes me feel good, I wish I could do it all year round!

I decided to wait until next week for the tree because we won't be home for Thanksgiving and I'd hate to come back to my house with 4 cats who have nothing better to do but think about how to knock it down...

If I were in your situation, I definitely would. Usually Im a strict "weekend after Thanksgiving" decorator, however even I have cheated a little this year. I bought a new Disney tree to go in our playroom(I hated the fact that Santa leaves the toys in a room with no tree) and put it together just to see what it looks like;) ;) . Of course I wont pack it all up and put away now for a week.
I will say I dont like when people turn their outside lights on too early. I can see putting them up when you have a chance or if its good weather, but we saw some lights on last night(last week even) and I just thought it looked silly.
