Is it still magical? Stay at Swan/Dolphin

My extended family and I have been staying at the Swan/Dolphin for the past couple of years. We usually get an Executive Swan Suite, and I can’t tell you how much we enjoy staying there. It’s so beautiful and clean.
How much does the Executive Swan Suite usually cost you a night?

We’ve gotten it for as low as $500, but usually closer to $600. It consists of two resort rooms adjoined to a parlor room with a pull-out sofa bed.

They charge only one resort fee for the unit, so we think it’s a deal.

Wow with me spending anywhere from $800 to $1100 a night for 2 rooms at WDW, their greed is making my decision to move over to Swan/Dolphins easier and easier.

Agree prices are getting outrageous. Sign of the times I guess. People feel better about their 401K's, etc and are willing to pay more. Supply and demand sadly.

Sadly I am semi looking forward to the next recession. The multiple trip people really carried Disney during the last downturn. Have made most of them angry I wonder what they will do.

I don't think they'll do a thing Ken. It's all about their bottom line. They really don't care about whether you're a multiple trip person or not. All of our $$ are the same color green to them.

:) Well, maybe they like the $$ better from the star trek fans and not so much star wars so I'm probably in better shape than you. Especially after the abomination known as the last jedi. :)

When we hit another downturn thou people will stop coming at those prices. After 9/11 they lost a good 20%+ of their bookings. It took years to get them back and it was the multiple trip people that carried them.

I'm a YC fan, it is my favorite resort on property, however, I've stayed at Swan/Dolphin my last 4 out of 5 visits. I was worried the first time I booked it because I just thought it was going to be too convention like but it wasn't. No, it's not in your face Disney and yes, there are conventions going on there almost all the time so you are going to see people in business attire but it's not that bad. We love the pool (or more accurate the hot tub and the person who brings you drinks). We love being able to walk to two parks, which just so happen to be our two favorite parks. The bathroom in the Dolphin is a little small in the toilet/tub area but it's not horrible since the sink is outside of it. I do miss the balconies at YC, I've never had a balcony room at Swan/Dolphin since I don't want to pay extra for it, but I did request a possible upgrade last September and got a great room on the ground floor steps from the pool. We don't charge back to our rooms even when staying in WDW resorts so that is no loss for us, carrying around your room card does mean one more card you have to carry but it's not that big of a deal. I do drive down so have to pay the parking fee but most of the time even adding that and the resort fee it's less than a moderate resort so getting to stay in and Epcot resort for less than a moderate is a win for us.

We had a trip planned a few months after 9/11. They actually closed French Quarters where we had a room booked. I received a phone call from WDW to move to us to another resort. I asked, "how about Polynesian?" and they said okay. Same room rate! We didn't like the ultimate reason we got the deal, but we really appreciated our stay at a deluxe resort for the cost of a moderate.

You have to call the resort reservation desk to get a quote on a suite. Tell them that your dates are flexible. If you get the right person, they will help you pinpoint a set of dates when you can get a great rate. If you don’t reach the right person (i.e., somebody willing to help you find good dates), thank them and call again later.

When they aren’t hosting a big event or don’t have a bunch of weddings scheduled, that is when you’ll get the kind of rates I’m talking about.
