Having never been to California I am trying to decide if the high 60's to low 70's is shorts weather? We are heading their next week (all sunny days!!! :sunny: ) and I am trying to figure out whether to pack pants or shorts for the family. Being from Texas it is shorts weather but we also have humidity from the Gulf added in to the picture so I wanted your wise help.

Thank you,

It really is a personal decision for you, but, being from California, I would vote for pants (or capris) for the following reasons.

Southern California certainly does not have humidity to make it feel warmer.
It can have breezes that will make it feel cooler.
It will be brisk in the morning and evening (the forecast says lows in the mid 40's).

Have a great trip!

We went last week and found that it was cool in the morning and evening. We wore light pants, t shirts and light jackets/sweaters. We found if it is not cloudy the sun can get warm but the air was cooler!

I am in DL today and it is COLD! 45-50 and cloudy with light rain on and off.

Hope you have better waether next week.

Good question! Looks like we will see you there. We're going tomorrow and will be there until March 19.
I'm Michele, my husband is Devin and daughter Angie, she's 5.
What's your names?
We are staying at the Grand hotel.

Oh, today it is raining very hard and COOOOLD.

I would pack a couple pairs of shorts, but more short sleeve shirts. In my experience, I like wearing pants with short sleeves and then having a sweatshirt/jacket to put over during the early morning and late evening.

We were there last week and it was definately jeans/capri weather. In the evenings I was sometimes wishing I'd brought a warmer jacket. The mornings were pretty cool too. But we loved the middle of the day when the sweatshirts came off and our arms saw the sun. :cool1: (legs didn't get so lucky) It's been a long winter!

ive been consitently checking the weather today because we have to go over the grapevine and its snowing...im showing rain and cold all weekend and then letting up and getting in high 60's but im not taking any shorts at all...in fact im taking a big coat for the night because its gonna be freezing :wave2:

Thank you to all. I think we will do the long pant with t-shirts and our polar fleece jackets. Michelle we are there until the 17th and can't wait, I am Kereen by the way, coming from San Antonio with my DH, DD (5) and DS (9). I will bring a couple pairs of shorts since we are transplanted Canadians and it will be in the 70's for a couple of our days. No rain in the forcast so I am keeping my fingers crossed!!!!! :sunny:

I live about an hour from DL at around 2,000 feet in elevation and it's snowing right now.

I would wear pants just for safety reasons. My friend's daughter insisted on wearing those Healies (shoes with wheels on them) and was wearing shorts. She fell and skinned her knee. Luckily I had a first aid kit in my bag (I carry a "mommy bag" full of junk like that). However, if she wore jeans that wouldn't have happened. My girls learned long ago it is better to wear long pants and survive the park than shorts and have to change because it is too cold. Then again, shorts are great for Grizzly Run because you can change out of them afterwards and they aren't too bulky to carry.
