is it safe to fly

No, it's not at all safe for her to travel that soon after birth...........especially on that long a flight.

hi a friend of mine is going to wdw in september she was to go in july but she is pregnant and due end of august if everything goes ok she will have given birth 2-3 weeks before she flys and she would like to know if it would be safe for her to fly will be flying from uk approx 9 hr flight

Ummm...my son was born in November, 3 full weeks (well, 22 days!) late and by emergency c-section. So I would NOTTTTTTTTT count on things working out exactly according to plan! IMO it is INSANE to plan to fly from the UK 2-3 weeks after one's due date. :earseek: JMO, however.

Oh jeez, I just read the part about her leaving her baby. IMO that is a sure sign one should not be a mother. Guess she is not even planning to ATTEMPT to breastfeed. Regardless of bf or formula, it's pretty sickening that any mother would leave a newborn to fly overseas to WDW, and that is said as a true Disney lover myself!! JMO and sorry if I offend anyone with that opinion.

It's incredible that one needs to purchase a license to have a dog, but any irresponsible fool can have a child.

This woman who wants leave her child with a grandparent so that she might fly to Florida for a Disney vacation 2 weeks after she hopes to give birth is an irresponsible and selfish individual. There are no two ways about it.

i myself agree with everyone on this board about leaving the child i have told her to put it for until christmas before she travels

Tell your "friend" that Disney can wait.

Don't be irresponsible.

Someone should move this post, it's kind of upsetting.

I couldn't leave my baby behind (heck mine's 3 1/2 now and I still couldn't) and I hope your friend changes her mind (I'm surprised her mother has agreed to this) but maybe she's feeling guilty about the older child feeling left out or something and is irrationally thinking a trip to Disney World will make the older sibling feel more connected, either way she still needs to wait. P.S. Where is the husband/father and his thoughts on the subject?

While I dont agree that a mother should leave her newborn home while she goes to disney, I dont believe I have the right to judge her...but then I left my daughter with my mother 3 nights a week when she was a newborn to do " Grease" yes she was right down the road but I dont feel guilty leaving her, she was in excellant care and my mother loved having her.

As for the breastfeeding comment, unfortunetly it isnt for everyone, I tried to breastfeed my daughter but she refused my nipple and had to be feed though a eye dropper becuase my lactose nurse kept telling me "no bottle, keep trying" But my gut told me she needs to eat, and I didnt care how she got it, breast or bottle,So I gave her the bottle and the first time she really ate she ate 5 ounces cuz she was starving ( she was 3 days old) I did pump for about a week but my supply plummeted and I wasnt getting more than an ounce a side... So we had to switch to formula. Does that make me a bad mom? I hope not!

ok sorry for my vent!

WOW! I still can't leave my DS and DD and they're 16 and 14! I know, I know. Like my husband says "cut the cords already".
