Ready to set sail in about 2 weeks :cheer2:

We have no plans on doing excursions, but rather will tour at our own pace. Thought a day at a Cozumel beach would be great. Finally narrowed it down to Mr. Sancho's or Nachi Cocum, when BAM!, my DH pulled the rug out from my plans by saying there was NO way we were going to eat anything on Cozumel. Well, this rules out A LOT of activities if we'd have to reboard the ship for lunch.

Q: I know Cozumel is Mexico, but is it the same "don't drink the water" Mexico as the land-based part of the country?

Has anyone gotten sick from the food/drinks or pool water?

Appreciate your help...

You'll get a shopping guide that includes restaurants. As long as you stick to what's recommended by Disney, you'll be fine. :D

i would like to know the answer to this too....this is a question that really nags me!
maybe sticking to bottled water & bringing stuff with you from room service would be the safer bet :guilty:

We did Mr. Sanchos on our Western cruise in 2003 and the food there was WONDERFUL!!! Our group of 29 ate there and noone got sick...i have nothing but great things to say about it.

We ate while at Paradise Beach and thought the food was very good. We had no problems, even drank some frozen drinks. I would just stick with well traveled areas and you should be fine. There are too many tourists around Cozumel for there to be that many problems.

We ate TONS of food at Paradise Beach, and everything was fine and delicious. By the way, the water problems are usually in Mexico City and the West Coast of Mexico. The Yucatan is actually fine.

We ate at Paradise Beach and Pancho's Backyard and not one of us (there were 3 of us) got sick. Paradise Beach (and I would think most beach clubs) have their own water filtration systems so you don't have to worry about ice. I would probably stick to bottled water but otherwise, I wouldn't worry unless you're in a small, off the beaten track eating place.

The food at both places was delicious, so eat and have a wonderful time!!

I have been to Cozumel 4 times and have always ate at one resturant or another while there. I have never had a problem. Like the above post said, most of the resturants have filtration systems so even the ice in your drinks is fine. Paradise Beach has great food. Our favorite resturant is Ernesto's Fajita Factory downtown. Have a margarita for me!

yup its safe to eat at cozumel, make sure you eat at the big name places like, burger king, subway....etc. and make sure not to drink the water! lol

Wow, eat without your hubby..lol.

We had a wonderful lunch at Mr. Sancho's..the food was fantastic. We also had dinner at Carlos and Charlie's..again, fantastic. We always drink bottled water anyway..so that isn't a problem.

I don't think you have any worries unless you go to some street vendor, and we even did that in the early evening and bought a churros..again fantastic.

No problems at all!

How about drinking from a bottled water, I think that would be safe. When we went to Cali, we drunk bottled water, we didn't want to take the chance of getting runs.

We went on the 4x4 jeep safari tour and had the best Mexican food. We also spent some time at Senior Frog's although that was more liquid vs. food. Fantastic time! As others have said, sticking to the more mainstream areas and you will be fine.

We've eaten at Mr Sanchos twice, the first time it was my family of 5 and our friends and their kids and the second time just our family. No one got sick. We also ate dinner at Carlos and Charlies as well and lunch at Mr Panchos backyard. We've eaten in Cancun and Isla Muerjes and also done fine. Just stick with bottled water or better yet BEER and you'll do just fine.

Remember that Cozumel was specifically created to be a tourist resort area ... it was built up from the ground and has all the up to date facilities, IMHO drinking the water & eating the food (from established restaurants, not street vendors) should be no worse than doing so in any major US city.
