is it rude of me to ask you for estimate of price?

Hi, I've never been in this forum before, so if I'm asking a presumptuous question, I apolgize. I have not done any research about Disney cruises yet since I want my kids to be a bit older before we book one.

Here's my "impolite" question: How much should I estimate spending for a 3day land/4 day cruise for 2 adults and 2 kids in the summer months? We're several years away, but I'd like to have a ballpark figure to shoot for.

Thanks!

Kerri

Hi Kerri....welcome to the Dis cruise board....it really depends on what stateroom category you are looking to book....do you want a room with no window, a window, a balcony? do you want to be on a higher deck, or a lower deck, maybe a suite? These all make a great deal of difference in the price. My best suggestion for you is to go to www.disneycruise.com and use their quote system. Just click on the little suitcase icon in the upper right hand corner and follow the prompts. That will give you an idea of what you might be paying. Be aware that the Disney site automatically includes insurance and transfers in the quoted price. Once the final quote page comes up click on the insurance line and another window will come up where you can decline insurance. Same thing with the transfer line. The page will then recalculate the quote without insurance or transfers.

Then price around some other agencies to compare prices. People has good luck with Costso, AAA, and the sponsor of this site which is Dreams Unlimited Travel. When comparing with other agencies make sure you are comparing the same cabin category and if you want the quote to include insurance and transfers. If I were you I would just compare the cruise only rates to start.

Hope this helps somewhat.

I agree. The easiest way to get a quote is through www.disneycruise.com

You can go through the quote system as many times as you want changing categories, dates, etc and get different prices.

I also checked with AAA & Dreams Unlimited (the sponsor of this forum) and went with Dreams Unlimited. :) The price was lower through Dreams and the agent at AAA didn't seem very knowledgeable. (I knew more than she did! LOL :D)

Kerri, you say you are "several years away." Unfortunately, the quotes you will receive now from any source, DCL or any TA, won't do you much good even for a ballpark estimate if your cruise would be more than 2 years from now. Think about the many price hikes at WDW in the last several years. Beyond that and if the travel industry recovers fully, you could be facing an additional 30 to 40 percent or more price hike - especially for summer months. On the other hand, if anything happens affecting the industry near the time you decide to book, that might not be the case. I don't mean to sound cynical. I'd just suggest you use the highest quote you find currently, factor in inflation for however many years away you are considering, then start saving!

We booked a month and a half out in late Feb for early
April, used a local travel agent and did a 4 night land/3 day sea cat 6 (upgraded to cat 5). It was my husband, 5 yrs old son, 17 month old son, and me. We were at the Polynesian and had ultimate park hopper tickets for 5 days (although first and last days were a waste of money; 3 days would have been more than enough)
Cost: $4000
Air for 3: $650
Spending $: $1200

We did two character breakfast and had LOTS of pina coladas. We didn't go overboard on souveniers, but we didn't really limit ourseves either.

If we had tried, we could have done it for 1/2 the price. We could have also done it for double the price!!!

Hope this helps....

We booked a year in advance for 7 night land/sea package May 2003. We are staying at Caribbean Beach Resort 3 nights and Cruising the Wonder 4 nights. We got ground transportation and insurance. The price for a Category 10 with 4 of us Me, Dmom50, DS11, and DD10 was 3,383.40. I am guessing airfare is going to cost us around $158 pp. We are taking $1500 spending money, because this is our first cruise and we want to enjoy it:D
So a running total:
Package$3,383.40
Airfare $632
Spending Money$1500
Grand Total:$5, 515.40

Wow, that sounds like alot when you write it out. But is worth every penny. Have fun planning your trip. 376 days and counting everyone of them:D
