is it really worth it

I am in process of trying to decide where to stay this summer. Here is where I have stayed;
Contemporary-2 times once as a 16 yr old and once with 2 little ones. Beautiful, wonderful and more grownup. For my family now no way. Older family great-younger "yawn" money wasted on those wanting the glitzy. But that monorail through the building still takes my breathe away!!! Also stayed at both the All Star Music and Sports-really fun for those with younger ones-read 12 and under-too cool for them-cheap for parents-really, really small rooms but clean-fun pools and kid food. Older kids gets cheesy. Also stayed off site when we did the Disney Cruise and one other visitwhen we mistakenly tried Universal-missed the fun and feeling of being in "Fantasyland" you get when you stay at Disney.

Whatever fits into your idea of Magic. For me with WDW you cannot go wrong as we have did deluxe, mod and value and I have to say that with all the time we spend we do value more than any others. The very first time I took my son(9yrs ago) we were told do not stay at a value resort, stay at CBR so I did, and I was not impressed. I dont care one way or the other about the deluxe resorts altho I must add that if you are going tobe in your room much the deluxe is the way to go, but the only thing we use the room or the resort for is to sleep and shower. My all time favorite resort is CSprings, I love the decor, the restaurants, everything about it:) but it is the worst place for cell service...hahahh... My favorite Value resort is Pop. If I were to plan a solo trip for summer months (which if enjoy my first upcoming solo I will repeat it...lol) I would definitly stay at the Beach Club Resort . It all depends on what you are looking for and how much timeyou will spend in your room. On an added note I have had towel critters in my room at the value resorts and it is just a pure stroke of luck that it seems everytime we have ever stayed at the Movies or Music a refrigerator is sitting at the door and we take it in:):)lol so we have been lucky with that added benefit as well. I have stayed off property as well and that is nowhere near as convenient and except for those few times when we rent a condo I do not do that at all nor would I recommend it. I will admit tho at the end of the day the long walk to a value bus stop is the pits:):)hahahh

It all comes down to one single thing for our family... How much time will we be spending at the resort. If its just a place to drop at the end of the day, or will we be spending relaxation time there. If you plan on hanging out more because you have little ones that may get burned out and cranky from long hours at the parks, I would say go for the moderate. On our last trip we werent sure how our youngest would do at the parks so we opted to go with a moderate.

We have never stayed at any of the resorts. We are booked for Allstars movies August 29 thru September 6. We are hoping for free dining. If that happens we have discussed trying to upgrade to a mod. My thing is of course the money, but we will be there 8 nights and although we won't spend alot of time at the resort I do want it to be enjoyable. We have 2 kids. 12 and 8. If we do upgrade which mod would be the best?

I've stayed at all levels of resorts on property. My preference is POFQ. It's small, only 7 buildings, has a boat to DTD, a jazz musician in the lounge, a secluded hot tub, 2 sinks and a fridge in the room, beignets in the food court, and best of all it has its own bus stop at MK in the evening. Not to mention the grounds are so beautiful.

Thanks for this post! The day the AP discounts came out I booked AS Sports for my solo May trip. After thinking about it, I called the next day and switched to POFQ and added the DDP. I've been having second thoughts again though about whether POFQ is really worth the extra $$ for a solo trip. I was just there this past Sept (AS Music) and again in Dec (AS Sports) and will be returning again in Sept (probably PORS), so it's not like it's a once in a lifetime trip or even a only once a year trip. What do you guys think? POFQ or AS Sports for a solo trip?

Actually it also depends on the size of your family. It is cheaper for us to stay at 1 room in POR which is a moderate than to either have 2 rooms or a family suite at a value.

For me it is, the values seem to visually stimulating. After the parks we want something relaxing. I stayed at POR in September and it was a lovely retreat from the parks. I would always try to book at least a Mod resort.

I like the values. There seems to be a buzz around these resorts, when we stay mod it's more quiet.
