Okay, I am hoping to get a few responses from some people who know California summer weather, or hot states in general as well as from everyone else:

Is it really DEATHLY hot in early June @ WDW? :confused3

It's the humidity coupled with the heat. If you are not familiar with humidity, you will think you will die. :faint:

Yep, it's the humidity. Nothing like sweat rolling down your back at 8:00 in the morning when you walk to a bus stop! Still, I'll take the WDW heat and humidity anytime.

Yes, the heat and humidity together are bad. The good news is that June isn't nearly as bad, IMHO, as August. That's when it really gets intense. :sunny:

I'll second that! We went in Aug. 04 and it was HORRIBLE! I have never sweated (is that a word, lol) so much in my life as I did on that trip!

Yes, it is hot. Esp. if you are not used to high humidty. I was born and raised in CA, and moved to FL in August 2004. I had a real hard time adjusting to the humidity. It makes it hard to breathe, and kind of takes your breathe away.

I grew up in So Cal, and now live in Phoenix AZ, I know hot. :sunny: But, of course these were dry areas. My first and only trip to WDW was in 1999, late August/early Sept, and don't recall it being all that bad. Of course I left Phoenix at 110deg. We had one afternoon of rain, too. We will be going again for free dining, 08/13-08/18 and hope for the best, as this time we will be traveling with DGS4, and DD, 5 months pregnant.

Yes, it is that hot. My favorite description of Florida in the summer is, it's like opening the oven door. ::yes:: Just ask the nurses at WDW First Aid how many people get heat stroke.

We were there last June and for the first week, yes, it was hot and you feel the sweat trickling down your back and no sooner have you showered and left your room all fresh and clean when you feel that sweat on the nape of your neck again! *But* it was absolutely manageable and in no way took away from our enjoyment of our trip. We drank loads of water and used the spray fans and had a stroller fan for our 1 year old. We had a fabulous time!!! No complaints. :thumbsup2 Bear in mind too we are not accustomed to heat!

Nooooooow, we arrived on June 24th. We left WDW on July 6th and those last two days we suffered. It probably only went up a few degrees but God it was hot, really really HOT! in particular the last two days we were starting to tire very easily and felt a noticeable difference in the humidity and temperature. Now that could also have been general tiredness because our trip was coming to an end but I swear the difference between that last week in June and July 5th, 6th was enough to start making park-touring extremely difficult for us (bearing in mind again that we're not accustomed to heat). I remember our second last morning heading for the pool in WL - the pool was just a few mins walk from our room but we had to literally stop to try to catch our breath, it was very unpleasant.

We wouldn't hesitate to go back in June again (the earlier the better) but I would try everything in my power to avoid July and August.

EARLY June's not THAT bad...but I like it when I open the oven! :smooth:

We've been several times in June and probably an equal number of times in August, and didn't find the heat unbearable. Afternoon rainshowers tend to cool things down a bit. I actually can't imagine going in the winter, having to wear coats and not being able to swim, but that's just us. Since we're from Houston, tho, we're very accustomed to heat and humidity.

I'm from Florida so you'd think I was used to it, sure I'm more used to it than someone from New Hampshire but I still find it unbearable. If you're coming from a cooler climate you need to take it easy, go see indoor attractions, take a break and go to the pool and drink lots of water.I would say June through September are the hottest months with July and August being the worst ones. The daily afternoon rain in Florida's summer months really helps to cool it down sometimes if the sun goes away, other times the rain comes and goes and the sun comes out again and it feels Extra, 3x more Humid than before, so sometimes the rain helps, sometimes it doesn't.

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Its the humidy that really kills. I'v been to las vegas in aug and loved it! 110 and dry ! woohoo! LOVE. 90degrees in june in FL... UGH... wear lots of natural cotton and flowing items. You will sweat! You will sweat a lot.

Yes it is hot, but it is bearable. I grew up in Phoenix and now live in Las Vegas. WDW in July and August was hot and humid... but no more unbearable than being out at the soccer field all day in the summer in Vegas.

If you think it's hot as a normal person. think of the poor souls that have to go out there in 15 pounds of fur to meet you. WE have several shirts with us for a reason.

and no they aren't airconditioned like the myth says.

the only character i've encounterd that has AC is actualy Bear from bear in the big blue house, and that is just a little fan inside designed to keep it cool because of the lcd monotor straped on your chest.

Disney is good about keeping characters in rotation...especially the masked characters because it gets so dang hot!

I had friends who did the college program when we were in college and the small bit of information that they would 'divulge' was that they were rotated out constantly.

But yes...it's hot. We went in late May and early June...and it's hot. And humid. I think that makes it worse. I'm from the desert, so i can take heat...a dry heat. That humidity is a killer. We had plenty of days in the park, so many days we left mid day to swim and shower and head back to the parks. Even if we didn't swim, we showered just to freshen up. I remember standing in 'Canada' and my husband said..."Gross, I need a shower" because it's so muggy.

you know it's hot when your legs sweat!

It depends on your tolerance for heat! I think that the combination of heat AND humidity is what makes it unbearable to some people...like me! we went in June once and I will NEVER go back that time of year again! we usually try to go fall/winter or early spring/feb/march. If you can take the heat and humidity...that's great. No HOT for me!

I don't think it is any hotter in the summer here in FL than when I lived up North and we had 100% humidity.

It sure is hot. I live up north, and in January you really wish you could be there! :sunny:
