Is it really THAT difficult for 1 person to go for the 7am G+/ill phone double up?

So let me say with all respect at the outset that no one in my travel party are MDE experts, or even snartphone experts for that matter. Having said that, my plan to try to get slinky (genie+) and rise (lighting lane) passes was to use my cell phone and my wife's cell at 7am, both under my MDE account.

I have read of two people teaming up for this on two separate phones. But is it really that difficult for one person to work this? It seems like you just keep moving forward on the prompts until you get what you want or don't (or in orher words , not a lot of complex thinking involved). Am I missing something here?

Thanks in advance for the help!

I don’t think so. There are consistent reports that at 7:17 am there is a second drop and additional times are offered for both attractions. If you’re booking rides alone with no help in your party, I would book one ride at 7:00 am and if the second ride is already “gone” just refresh until 7:17 am when you should see more availability open up.

It's just one of a few methods to increase your odds of success. We had success last month with just me doing it. The trick for me was to use data and not Disney WiFi, as the Disney wifi was definitely slower and tended to hang likely due to sheer volume of guests piling on the system at the same time. With data -- and the usual tricks (countdown timer to 7:00 a.m. and then pull a refresh with 1 second to go) I was able to land just about everything I wanted (including ROTR, SDD etc.).

I did the genie+ and ILL 7am reserving all on my own for six park days last week. What worked for me was-

Doing genie+ first at 7 a.m. If I didn't like the time I held off and refreshed between 7:05 and 7:10, times for the rides I wanted alway shifted back to morning then

I made reservations with the 7:17 drop (its really several seconds after 7:17, keep refreshing) for ROTR, 7DMT and FOP.

That said, I never did a SDD genie+ grab in the morning (We got ours refreshing in the afternoon). Maybe someone can confirm that SDD availability opens up again after 7:05.

ETA I did not use two devices, just my cell phone

What times were you able to get during your trip at 7am? What else did you go for at the other parks?

I second the above post that using data and not the Disney Wi-Fi seemed faster. I used data and was able to purchase RoTR for our group of 7 on two occasions while my sister booked our Genie + picks…but she was on Wi-Fi and it was definitely slower for her. One person could do everything on their own and like it’s mentioned, try for the later drop after 7:17 if you do not get what you want at 7. We just had two of us booking as we wanted FOP for our morning at AK, and also wanted RoTR and SDD for our evening hop over to HS. We did get all three that day.

What times were you able to get during your trip at 7am? What else did you go for at the other parks?
Early-ish times -- around 9:30 a.m. or 10:00 a.m. as I recall. We didn't bother with 7:00 a.m. anywhere else. Only three times at DHS. For the other parks we were more easygoing.

I think it would mostly depend on if times are important. We did rotr and tot (which lasts longer than sdd) and had no issues. But we were hopping to HS so we knew times would be after 2. I just clicked through then chose 6 for rotr, but then tot I didn’t care about the time I got so just kept clicking. If I remember correctly I got around 4 for tot.

Depends if you want to go early to the park or in the afternoon. The 7 AM availability slots moves fast, so it is much easier to get a later time slot. While if you wait for the second drop it easier to get an earlier time and a longer wait to get the later times in the afternoon (Genie+ LL). I aimed for the later times in the day, so it was doable for 1 person. That being said Hollywood is the only park I found where I had to wait for the second drop every time (for afternoon bookings), the times for ROR and SDD just moves really fast at 7.

Also remember when the time changes for a LLIA$ (SDMT, ROTR etc) from what you click on the payment screen to the final transaction (yes it does), you can go to the front desk to fix it if it’s really unacceptable/conflicting.

Yes SDD and ROTR opened up again starting at 7:15 am

Ok this is good to know. Didn't know they "dropped" more rides like that. Trying to glean every good tip I can before June.

Do you hold off even if it's a really popular ride or do you just take what they give you at 7am?

LL (shift occurred 7:05-7:10)
I know I held off for Space Mountain twice (ended up with 9:30 and 10 something). With MFSR I had to hope for the times to shift because my tip board didn't refresh properly at 7:00...and they did (ended up with midday time....great with my 10:30 ROTR). I had the same issue my TT day but got a morning time by waiting until the shift. I wanted a midday FOP and I don't remember if I got it right at 7:00 or later. Not sure when I grabbed my 9:50 TOT.

The 7:17 drop is awesome (it's really a few seconds after the clock changes, keep refreshing).I used it to get morning ROTR and 7DMT. (ETA 4/18/2022 keep an eye on recent posts AND be sure to monitor patterns prior to travel, I have seen posts re the availability expected at 7:17 occurring later, 7:20 for example)

The waiting is nerve wracking for sure. I would never have tried it if I hadn't been on the app every morning the week before our trip watching the patterns. (Thrill data graphs are great, but didn't give me the same comfort level as actually seeing it on my app.)

(Post 17392 in the "Here Now & Just Back" thread is my original post-trip post.)

We didn’t have a great experience with Genie plus for HS yesterday. My son and I were both logged in. He was going to get LL for Slinky and me an iLL for Remy for later at Epcot. We were both on and kept refreshing. both of our phone froze and gave that “magical touch” screen. When it stopped he got SDD for 100 and my Remy which was for 200became 445. I was so sad. I cancelled SDD as I knew we would not be in park that time. We did early entry and my daughter and husband went to ToT and RnRc which they were so happy they did because at 810 it was over an hour. My son and I went to guest relations and they refunded my Remy and was awesome and even looked for an original 200. My family simply wanted to do Remy and leave Epcot. So I waited for 717 drop. SDD did show but only for 7pm and it was gone. Grabbed TSM because at that point everything was already in evening. Luckily at 730 a Remy showed and it ended up being a 245 (even when I checked out). The morning at HS was great until 8am when the park opened for all. SDD was short until about 830. My daughter and family said we skip it because it turned into 80 min and we said forget it. I know that I visit during busy weeks but the parks were packed. We hopped to Epcot which is packed, did soaring and Remy and were out. Were staying at Poly so went in to MK at 630pm, and also so packed. We have park reservations and can’t hop to 200, there has to be a way to manage crowds. if we were able to hop at anytime, parks would get less congested.

They need to open up shows/immersive experiences like Fantasmic and Enchanted tales with Belle.

Some old attractions need to be replaced/refurb to appeal to the next generation. Maybe release a Country Bear movie (JC used to be avg. waits) and update accordingly and Tiki room - Moana themed (Moana meet & greet is usually around there).

We chose not to buy park hoppers but if you’re looking for a rides only trip with teens then it’s worth it IMHO.
