Is it really low carb?? Maybe not

Yep! You have to be careful.

I was going to buy a loaf of low carb bread the other day but read the list of ingredients first. One of the first items was bleached flour. Not very Atkins friendly, so I put it back.

Pretty much. If you see a "net carb" label, they've already subtracted the fiber carbs (which don't digest) and the sugar alcohols (which are said not to impact blood sugar). So far I haven't found any Atkins products that contain any hydrogenated oils/trans fatty acids.

I still read the ingredient list, though. Many of the Atkins products do contain sugar alcohols - those don't agree with me so I avoid them.

I also have to limit the total amount of carbs and it really doesn't mater where they come from. It's so easy for me to "rationalize" overdoing the carbs if I know I'm eating a "legal"/Atkins item. If I eat too many of the low carb items, I start to crave carbs again. NOT GOOD! Besides, I think they are expensive. So I try to save them for a special treat. So far, that's working pretty good.

Not only that, but have you SEEN the nutritional value on the Subway wraps? If not, you might want to check it out....

I saw a 'low carb' snack bar at Wal-mart yesterday. It's Carb Watchers, about 3 inches long with a big "1 Net Carb" on the label. In the fine print it says there are 3 servings in the bar.

Amazing!
