Is it problem with ME if names don't match?

I'm not sure if it is better to post this here or on the "resorts" board. Due to the new method for AP discounts, we had to book our rooms online using the new "Best Rate" program. Although a passholder is allowed to book a couple rooms for others in their party (AP holder must be present at check-in) the system is a little weird in that the AP holder shows up as the primary person on the reservation (cannot be changed). If you call CRO, they tell you to leave off one person and at checkin they will change the AP holder name to the correct name for the person in the room. All well and good, but we just got the ME stuff for my parents. Since we had to book the room with this strange system, the tags and voucher have my husband's name and my father's name. DH & I are arriving a day before my parents and renting a car - they will arrive the next morning and are using ME to get to the resort where we will meet them to get them checked in. Is this going to be a problem when they get to the desk since I really don't think anyone is going to believe that my mother is named "Dan" :) :rotfl2: :confused3

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks,

I emailed Guest Services and they were able to change the names on the other rooms from my name into the correct names. If it's too late to change they can purchase a one-way ticket from Mears when they get to MCO. They will be on the ME busses, but not for free.

The vouchers get scanned. I don't think anyone looks at the names. If they do just have your parents say something like my stupid son gave me the wrong voucher. I doubt they'll have a problem.

Thanks for the replies. I called CRO this morning and the CM told me that this is a common "problem" since it happens with the AP reservations a lot. She claimed that as long as my parents have 2 vouchers and the yellow tags it really doesn't matter what names are on them. If the wrong names bother us, she suggested just crossing them out and writing in the correct names.

I guess it depends on who you talk to. I was told by 3 different people that they wouldn't be allowed to board. I figured why chance it and just changed the names.

I really wish the CRO CM's would all agree on the answers! Not only did this one say it was "no problem" - she also said there wasn't any way to change the name on the reservation because it was an on-line "Best Rate Plan" reservation. That agrees with what I was told when I made the reservation - it can only be changed at the resort at check-in (and the AP holder must be present).

I guess I'll try calling again when I have a few minutes to spare and see what answer I get next....

Do your parents have the same surname as you?

After you check in to one of the rooms with your AP, you might try having the name on that particular room changed to your parents' name for them to refer to when they get to the airport ME desk.

Would it be practical for your parents to cell-phone you should they have problems at the airport ME welcoming area and then they wait for you to report to the resort check in desk and cell-phone them back and you act as a go-between?

When I first made the reservation i was told it wouldn't be a problem. Then I read on here that the names had to match so I called and asked. I spoke to one person at CRO and 2 at ME. I was told that the names did have to match in order to board the bus, but that there was no way for them to change the names on the reservation. They said that the people whose names weren't on the reservation would have to find their own transportation to the resort.

I finally decide to email Guest Services. They emailed me back and said that they had changed the names on the reservation. I checked the reservation online and it shows the new names and still says Passholder Best Rate.
