Is it possible to piecemeal reservations?

Hello, I am new to this. And am looking to put together a mini-vacay over T'givin break using DVC rental points. However I am seeing it is very difficult to find availabilities greater than a date or two at a time-- which makes it rather difficult to put together a lengthier stay.

My questions is: Is it possible to book a single date or two, and then combine with another date or two of the same resort, same room type, same view, etc. And request them to be put under a single reservation to avoid having to move rooms repeatedly?

Thanks for your experiences and input.

As long as the reservations are same resort, continuous days, same room type, same view (if applicable) and made under the same membership # generally MS can merge the reservations into a single reservation. I haven’t been told no yet.

If one of those aren’t true that I listed above you want MS to note your reservations as “continuing” so the room assigner can hopefully keep you in the same room.

If you are renting DVC points, you can't make any reservation using DVC points. If you have a willing owner who is willing to stalk the DVC website (if you are not a member, you have no access to DVC availability), they can stalk and book a night here and there and put them together into one reservation, as long as they are all at the same resort, the same villa size and the same booking category.

And if you are renting from multiple owners they each need to contact MS to try to link the reservations. It wouldn't be one reservation, but individual night reservations with a request to stay in the same villa for the entire stay. You would still need to check out and check in at the end of each reservation. As an owner renting points, you would have to pay me a lot in order to get me to do what you need. But it will never be a single reservation. It would have to be one contract with multiple nights in order to make it a single reservation.

Thank you for the info. I check availability through the ****** Pro site. I'm hoping that's legit and near real-time? I also check the dvc vacations site and dvc rentals site, but sometimes I'm unsure how reliable those calendars are. Appreciate the feedback!

And now that I'm thinking about it... If it is not all booked by the same member # then you're almost certain to run into the issue that check out time is late AM and check in time late afternoon-- so that would be a real big pain to have to deal with those lapses, even if you're at the same resort and have same type of room, view, etc.

The only reliable real time inventory is through the online booking tool available exclusively to DVD members. You will never get that from any secondary site.

I would say your chances of putting something together at this date is slim. As already mentioned, owners would have to stalk online availability to try and that is a lot of work, probably not something that will be easy to find.

DVC room availability change minute by minute, so what you could be seeing could be gone a minute later, especially since it is not real time rooms. I had s room the other day for February, hit the wrong button, and it was gone when I went back in less than 1 minute.

I’d say you are probably better off deciding on another way to book your vacation

I have to agree with the earlier posts. I screwed up and did not realize I had quite a "few" points expiring 11/30/19. Luckily I'm flying in a day earlier than we anticipated on the 11/30 so I've been able to use most of those points, but I'm on the DVC site at least 5 times a day just seeing if I can snag a better room for day 1 of our vacay that really starts 12/1/19. Last week I dumped my studio lake view at Bay Lake trying to get a 1 bedroom at Bay Lake that came available and when I went back on to book that rez for the 1 bedroom it was gone, luckily I was able to get back my studio I had to start with...Yikes...Scary

Hunt for confirmed Reservations. I think there is a forum here and a few on Facebook Groups and a few on the various DVC rental websites

Yeah you’re very late to rent points for this November. People will soon be starting to put in rental requests for next November. There are some confirmed reservations but they come at a premium. If budget is a concern your best bet is probably paying cash for a moderate room.

Did you know you can modify the reservation without having to cancel what you have? This way, you don’t risk losing it. It holds what you currently have as you look for something else.

Not really, I'm kind of an idiot when it comes to this stuff (I try to live up to my pic/avatar). As long as I've been a DVC member using the website to make reservations, there are so many things that I don't know about. I still don't know how to "walk" a reservation...(I'm sure there are people shaking their heads at me after reading this one.)

Next time, just go to what you have, click modify/cancel. Then search what you want...I always search all resorts. If something is available, you can click and it replaces. If not, then do nothing and your reservation will be there!

In terms of walking, it really isn’t necessary for much of year, but if you want a hard to get reservation, you can start a reservation earlier than you want and just modify it slowly to get the dates you want. Works at the 11 month mark since once you get a room, no one can book that room until you check out. So, if you modify to change check in/out before the last day, you extend it forward,

I modified my early May reservation just a few days ago. It was my first time modifying and it was so easy. I needed two more points that I had to borrow to make the new reservation and it just asked me where I wanted to get those points.

If you are actually able to get such reservations, then you would need to ask the owner (or rental co) to mark the reservations as a "continuing stay". We book reservations using our different memberships every stay to get the DDP for a night or two. It is possible, but highly unlikely that you would need to physically check out of/into the room; we usually just stop at the front desk to ensure everything went smoothly. Just understand that since each stay is technically seperate, your housekeeping might be limited or non-exitant depending upon the length of each stay. You can, however, ask at check-in to schedule your HKing day(s).
