Is it possible to go straight to the matter at hand

As suggested, my DH has been calling everyday to see if there has been a cancellation at FW for dates before & after Christmas. He is already becoming annoyed with having to give them his life history before they will even look, just to be told "no". :( Today they asked him the usual questions, followed by commenting on how many times we have stayed with them, how did we enjoy it, etc... As you can tell our info. is already on their computers, anyway.
I'm afraid he's going to become so annoyed that he'll stop calling at all. Is there any way that he can explain his situation, that he is calling frequently hoping for a cancellation, and have them look, without all the personal info? I've always been a bit confused as to why they needed all this info. before even checking for vacancies, but since it's normally just the one call and your site is booked, it's no big deal. It is a bit of a bigger deal if you're wasting cell phone minutes to go through it every day. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I am with your DH. It bugs me beyond words that they have the nerve to try and have me do a survey on my dime.

I just tell them Hi. I am a daily caller checking for a cancellation and I will not answer any questions until you answer mine.

It has worked all but one time when I just hung up and called back.

It is best to call early 7- 8 am eastern.

One other tip .... most cancellations are done on the weekend when people have more time to make the call to cancel or they've had their family pow-wow and made the decision. Therefore, the majority of ressies that come up available land in CRO computers on Monday morning. My best luck in coming up with ressies has been on Monday morning:) Perhaps your dh can cut his phone calls down to once per week and reduce his annoyance with their protocol!

We had this same problem last April for spring break and although we were not trying to get a cabin, we were trying to get two campsites. I started calling every other day at first, and then as time drew closer, I called everyday. I got the first campsite on a Saturday afternoon about 3 weeks prior to the date via a phone call. I got the second site one week later via the website. I was told that with the 5 day prior cancellation, the month before the dates you want is the time to call. People are going to cancell closer to the dates needed. I was smart this time and already have reservations for the week after Christmas and the week of spring break for 05. Good luck and keep trying the website, at least that one is free.

Don't just try calling, check the web site. We have found availability on there when CRO said nothing was available. Easter we were able to piece together two weeks by doing this. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes you can only get one day and others you may be able to get 2, 3 or even 4 days in a row. You can always cancel if you can't get all your dates, but it is worth going for.
