Saucony running shoes are great. I don't think you need to spend a fortune at all. In fact, I think a decent pair of running shoes is fine paired with a good pair of socks. But it really depends on what type of running you are doing. Road running is different that trail running or running on smooth trails. Also what type of arches do you have-flat feet, high arches, or normal arches. I would really suggest getting fitted at a running store. Around here we have a place called Flying Feet. Once you know what is good then you can go to other places.
