We will be at DC on 7/12. Is it possible to also do SW in the same day? It is a short trip for us, if we can save a day for ourselves it will be a great help.

I would say no,

it takes a minimum of 6 hours to see all the shows, ride all the rides and walk thru the exhibits at Sea World.

It has been years since we did DC but I remember spending all day there.

Since you get the passes for SW with Discovery Cove visit, you could leave DC when you have done everything you want to do there and head over to SW, but most of the shows at SW happen during the day so you won't get to see very many of the regular shows. At night during the time you are there they have special summer nite time shows for Clyde and Shamu plus a fireworks show. After a day in the sun and the activity at DC you might be really tired and not feel like doing another park, though. To have time to do most of the things at SW you would need to return for at least a 2nd day.

You could go over to enjoy the evening entertainment. However, I have been to Discovery Cove 6 times now and every time we are completely exhausted at the end of the day. We would be in no fit state to spend the evening at Seaworld. Believe and Blue Horizons are must do shows and neither of them will be shown once Discovery Cove closes.
