Do you think its posible that you walk off all the food you have over eaten?

im going for 5 days.

It depends on how much you eat! ;)

We tend to walk for the sake of walking, while at WDW (walking from the BoardWalk to D-MGM, instead of taking the boat or bus, for example), and manage to walk at a fat-burning pace about 7-8 miles a day, so that's about 800 more calories than we typically would burn in a day. Given that we eat around 1400 calories per day, and a single meal at WDW could easily run 1800 calories, the extra walking won't really cover all the excess food, if we were to seriously overeat. We do eat more than we typically do, but we stay clear of the 1800 calorie meals. With a judicious balance between having a great time on vacation and watching what we eat at least enough to avoid 1800 calories meals, we typically make it home losing a pound or two for the week.

I gained 10lbs in 8 days!! Have to give you some background on this. I follow Weight Watchers & I'm pretty restrictive with my eating, especially before a big eating marathon like Disney. I only weighed 125lbs before I left so the food hit me like a ton of bricks. Worth every brick I might add. We walked plenty-but everyone's body is different. Glad to say, been home for 3 weeks & that 10 is almost gone. Go & have fun. There is always time to take care of things when you get home. I went there knowing the scale would go up & the clothes would be tighter. We did the DDP so I know that was a factor-ate more things than I normally would have. It was yummy yummy yummy:cool1:

I am on Weight Watchers too, but I don't track at WDW. I allowed myself to eat whatever I wanted until I was fill (but not overstuffed). That included desserts!

However, pushing a stroller through the parks every day.... in the hot August sun.... and chasing my toddler around (who is non-stop all-day).... and I did not gain any weight at all.

I do walk a lot extra anytime I'm at Disney - it is a fantastic place for exercise. I always watch what I eat, though I do allow myself to enjoy dessert, etc. just as I do at home. It isn't even that I'm eating extra, but having items cooked at Disney can meat extra butter and such too.

Yes, you can even lose weight at Disney. I've lost 80 pounds in 4 years, and I don't deny myself much at all - but I'm careful, and I exercise. :) I only do the DDP when free, because it is a LOT of food, I'd never eat that many table service and such otherwise.

I too am on Weight Watchers (as is my DMom). When we went together in April/May we both ate whatever we wanted, no WW tracking at all.

I came home half a pound less then when I left, DMom gained 1 pound.

I would say, for the most part, all the extra exercise does negate much of the overeating you do.

I think it just depends on your habits. We're active at home, but not nearly to the degree that we are at Disney. At home, it is more playing catch, hanging out at the beach, splashing in the water, etc - things that have us outdoors but aren't physically strenuous and aren't really very good exercise. So all the walking at Disney is a step up from our everyday lifestyle, and it tends to balance out the extra calories. For someone who is used to that much walking but not to that much food, it wouldn't balance as well.

I really thought this was the funniest question. :rotfl2:
I think the impression out there may be one of total indulgence if you're on the DDP. I disagree.....
We don't really change our eating habits (eat more) while at the world on the DDP. We don't stuff ourselves just because it's included. The DDP plan works for us because we will eat a (more expensive) sit down meal once a day rather than the food court day in and day out, ie fast food type stuff. The choices are just better!
All the walking certainly helps...can't wait to return!

I usually drop a pound or two at disney. But when I'm on the DDP, I usually stay the same. I AM eating differently than at home. Richer foods, less meals but larger ones at least once a day.

what arnt all americans like the stick thin buitifull people we see on the big and small screen:rotfl2:

In one of the threads on this board, one person claims to walk 6-10 miles per day. So it just may be possible depending on how much you plan on eating!

This may be one of those urban legend things, 'cause I sure can't verify it, but I read/heard that the average WDW visitor walks 9 miles a day. Granted, that would be with many stops and starts, but that's a LOT of turf covered.

I'd just make up for the sin of gluttony after getting home. But, as Mamma used to say, "You don't have to eat it just because it's sittin' in front of you."

I checked -- pedometer and all. And we walk extra -- deliberately. We've been to the World Showcase so many times that we just use it as a walking park sometimes. And no, sorry -- no where near 9 miles a day. 6 miles, maybe; more likely less. And most guests, probably closer to 3 miles or 4 miles.

Sorry. :(

I gained 3 pounds on my extravagent 6 day eating trip. But I lost those 3 within a week of getting back home and dieting.

Glad to have this verified for someone who has actually checked. See how rumors get started? ;)

Bicker is almost always exact with his number. I'll accept his number, you can burn off an extra 800 calories walking.

Let's see a turkey leg is 1,092 calories. I'll guess a Mickey ice cream bar is at least 300 calories. A large cookie is around 200-250 calories. I wonder how many calories one of those ice cream sandwiches, made with two bakery cookies, that you get at Main Street Bakery (one snack credit) has. My guess is it wouldn't take very many dessert "samples" at a buffet go way over Bicker's 800 calorie number.

I think it's only possible to walk of the calories if you also make an attempt to be reasonable with how many extra calories you consume. Probably not possible for DDP guests, who use their CS and TS dessert for high calorie items and who use their snack credits for high calorie treats.

Calories in + calories out determine if you will gain or not. I think it would be very easy to gain on the DDP if you ate every morsel that was served to you. I mean a counter service meal w/a dessert, snack and TS meal with appetizer, entree and dessert is a lot of food in a day. My family was on the DDP in January and I didn't gain any weight. I am overweight to begin with, mind you. I think the key for me maintaining was simply eating about 1/2 of what I ordered. I sometimes would order a salad for my appetizer instead of a more calorie-laden appetizer. I also ordered sorbet for dessert a couple of times. I tried everything I ordered though and felt very satisfied. I just hate feeling so stuffed and then walking my over stuffed body around a theme park, so that was incentive enough for me to watch my portions.

:goodvibes

I on the other hand do not watch what I eat while I'm on Vacation anywhere. The first year we hit WDW I lost 8 pounds, moving up a few years and last March I gained 3 pounds. Go figure!!!!

We kinda go commando (ya know rest when your at home not at disney) and I am overweight. That being said last trip was June 2005 (90+ days everyday) and we walk alot. We don't stroll either and pushed a stroller for 7 days. We were on dining plan and ate tons. Admitting though the heat really did kill our appetites the first 2-3 days though. I lost 5# on that trip. I didn't watch what I ate had as many snacks etc as I wanted dessert with dinner etc.
