forever to get ready to go places? Sunday morning Mass it takes her 2 hours to get ready, I'm still usually waiting in the car after that waiting on her. I just don't understand how it can take so long. After 25 years of marriage you could say that I'm somewhat used to it or at-least know it's just the way it is.:rotfl2:

I am thinking that while you get in the shower, shave and get dressed, she is doing a load of laundry, loading the dishwasher, making the bed, perhaps ironing your shirt and running the vacuum cleaner in between the eye liner and the mascara.

No, she's in her dressing area the whole time. I peek in from time to time. :lovestruc

I don't understand how it can take someone 2 hours to get ready either. I get ready at a very CASUAL pace so from the time I take my shower to the time I am done is usually about 45 minutes, BUT, that is take a shower, get dressed, eat breakfast, read the paper online as well as hit a few other sites, dry my hair, put on make=up. If I just went from shower to getting dressed to hair/makeup-that is about 20 max.

We have the opposite problem. I'll be bustling around, making sure the house is dog proof, getting myself ready (15 minutes, tops), when the kids were little getting them both ready, shutting off all the electronics, lights, etc. My husband will sit playing a video game, and then leisurely get himself ready while the rest of us are waiting in the car.

Infuriating, but I've been living with it for 16 years. It's like he CANNOT mentally get himself ready until after everybody else is. It drives me insane to be sitting in a running car while he's inside shaving or getting dressed and he could have been doing that and/or helping me.

Oh well, he has wonderful qualities too.

I am low maintenance. 20 minutes from shower to door.

If I am going out fancy- add about 10 minutes for makeup.

My Mom on the other hand can take all day to get ready- it's that darn curling iron. When I was younger I used to throw it out. It just zaps her time. I told her she was losing years of her life to an appliance.

She's back to using it though.

My DH is the long getting ready person in our house. I suppose there is always someone that is doing the waiting around - some houses it's the husband some it's the wives.

Sounds like our house when the kids were little :rolleyes1 He would be ready but wouldn't get the kids ready while I was getting dressed, etc. so I would have to do it all OR he would start something right as we were getting ready to walk out the door. Yesterday, homecoming dance, had to get to DD's spot for pictures at 4:00, he starts cutting the lawn at 3:30. He got the back yard done and I told him we have to leave in 10 minutes-so he moves on to the front yard. Well, he didn't get it done so he has DS15-who is VERY allergic to grass, to finish :scratchin

I don't understand it either. My daughter is like that and I have a friend like that. They will both stand in front of the mirror for hours, putting on makeup, doing their hair, then changing things, tweaking things. I mean, they will completely wipe down their faces and start over with their hair from wet. Unfathomable to me.

But they don't make people late. They just start early enough not to affect other people.

:scared1::scared1::scared1: WHY?????? That is being just a little TOO concerned about your appearance, they need to realize that NO ONE will notice.

I have a friend who takes at least that long. Longer if she washes her hair.

I swear I can get totally ready in the time she spend working on her lips alone.

I'm pretty low maintenance. I have wash n' go hair and I don't wear makeup.

Shower to out the door? On average, 20 mins. :)

OMG! I was so ROTFL at Dawn's post!!!!

But, since that doesn't seem to be the case....
I think this is a big 'personality' thing.
Many times it is women, with all the make-up and personal grooming...
But, with us, it is my husband!

I can't see why it takes my Husband an hour (or way more) to run a shaver over his face and get out the door.... :confused3 But, I have realized that he is just one of those people who are just that way, very methodical, taking the time to make sure to complete everything in their 'routine' to their satisfaction....

Once I have a cup of coffee, I can completely shower, dry and style my hair, make-up, the whole she-bang, while making sure my son is also appropriately ready.... and be out the door in an hour or less....

My DH, not so much....

I really do think it is a personality-makeup thing.

Do you know the Brad Paisley song "waiting on a woman?" You should watch the video with Andy Griffith. It's precious.

My husband told me when we were dating that one of my best qualities is that I can be ready to go anywhere in an hour. On a normal morning I can shower and be ready to go in less than 45 minutes.

I take about 20-30 mins, and am pretty low maintenance. if we are all going out somewhere then it takes me an hour because in-between getting myself ready I am ironing and getting our 2 kids ready as well.

DH is the one who takes the longest!!!:rotfl: The kids and I are usually waiting for him by the door!

It's a time management thing. I know of women like this and, for the most part, they don't seem to be doing anything more than other, timely women. They are just slow, they putter about doing unnecessary things, get distracted, etc.

I say this sort of in jest but I don't think I could live like that.;)

Well It certainly doesn't take me two hours, BUT I would be hard pressed to finish in 45 minutes, IF I have to do my hair. My hair is RIDICULOUSLY thick and also naturally wavy/curly. It does NOT look good in it's natural state. I sometimes wear it curly if I am in a HUGE rush, but I feel terrible about myself. I feel like my natural hair looks raggedy and halfhearted. So I must blow dry it and then run the flat iron over it. BUT, because it is so thick, it has to stay in the towel turbie for a certain amount of time because I really need to have as much water soaked out of it as humanly possible before I start with the blow dryer or else it takes eons.

It isn't that I am moving slowly or that I am dawdling, or even that I WANT to take a long time. I WISH I could get up throw on a bit of makeup and bounce out the door, but it just doesn't work that way for me :(

I take a long time to get to get ready but a combination of factors play into that. For one thing, I am SLOW and just plain disorgainzed. A portion of the time is spent trying to find the things I need. Also, if we're going somewhere special it takes longer because I curl my hair and I have a lot of it to curl. On the other hand, if it's just on ordinary day, I usually leave my hair alone and just do my makeup so that typically takes me around 40 minutes.
